William George Wells
Dr. William George Wells AM (4 December 1939 – 4 February 2021) served as the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia from 1992 to 1999, and as Chairman of the Australian Queen's Scout Association in 2008. Wells played a very important role in the Asia-Pacific Scout Region and was responsible for organizing the 31st World Scout Conference in Melbourne in 1988. In 2002, Wells was awarded the 294th ''Bronze Wolf'', the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. Member Of The Order Of Australia
The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Queen's Scout
A King's Scout is a Scout who has attained the King's Scout Award. The King's Scout Award is the highest youth award achievable in the Scouting movement in the Commonwealth realms, including the United Kingdom, Canada (Queen's Venturer Award), Australia, and New Zealand (Queen's Scout Kauri Award), where Scouts operate under the patronage of King Charles III. Asia-Pacific Scout Region
The Asia-Pacific Scout Region is the divisional office of the World Scout Bureau of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, headquartered in Makati, Philippines, with satellite offices in Australia and Japan. The Asia-Pacific Region services Scouting in the land area of Asia south of Siberia and east of Central Asia, and the bulk of the Pacific Basin, with the exception of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau, which are under the Interamerican Region by way of the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Bronze Wolf
The Bronze Wolf Award is bestowed by the World Scout Committee (WSC) to acknowledge "outstanding service by an individual to the World Scout Movement". It is the highest honor that can be given a volunteer Scout leader in the world and it is the only award given by the WSC. Since the award's creation in 1935, fewer than 400 of the several millions of Scouts throughout the world have received the award. History Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell, initially recognized outstanding contributions to Scouting by any Scout with the bestowal of the Silver Wolf, but although he was Chief Scout of the World, the Silver Wolf was associated with British Scouting.
