William G. Haan
Major general (United States), Major General William George Haan (October 4, 1863 – October 26, 1924) was a senior United States Army Officer (armed forces), officer. He commanded the 32nd Infantry Division (United States), 32nd Division during the final year of World War I, and served in numerous other conflicts during his career. Early military service William George Haan was born on October 4, 1863, in Crown Point, Indiana, the son of Nicholas Haan and Anna M. Haan. Crown Point, Indiana
Crown Point is a city in and the county seat of Lake County, Indiana, United States. The population was 33,899 at the 2020 census. The city was incorporated in 1868. On October 31, 1834, Solon Robinson and his family became the first settlers to an area that later became Crown Point. Due to its location, Crown Point is known as the "Hub of Lake County". The city is surrounded by Merrillville to the north, Winfield to the east, Cedar Lake to the southwest, St. John to the west, and unincorporated Schererville to the northwest. United States Military Academy
The United States Military Academy (USMA), also known metonymically as West Point or simply as Army, is a United States service academy in West Point, New York. It was originally established as a fort, since it sits on strategic high ground overlooking the Hudson River with a scenic view, north of New York City. It is the oldest of the five American service academies and educates cadets for commissioning into the United States Army. Chester Harding (governor)
Chester Harding (December 31, 1866 – November 11, 1936) was Governor of the Panama Canal Zone from 1917 to 1921. Biography Harding was born on December 31, 1866, in Enterprise, Mississippi. His father was a civil engineer and his older brother William P. G. Harding later became the second chair of the Federal Reserve. His early education having been supplemented by training from his father at home, Chester Harding was able to complete the requirements for a Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1884 while only seventeen years old. He later graduated fourth in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1889. Harding was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Clement Alexander Finley Flagler (August 17, 1867 – May 7, 1922) was a United States Army Major General who was noteworthy as regimental, brigade and division commander in World War I. The son of Daniel Webster Flagler and grandson of Clement Alexander Finley, Clement Flagler graduated from Iowa's Griswold College in 1885 and the United States Military Academy in 1889. Commissioned as an Engineer officer, Flagler served on the West Point faculty and then carried out a series of Engineer assignments, with a specialty in rivers and harbors construction.
