Penderlea Homesteads Historic District is a national historic district located near Willard, Pender County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 186 contributing buildings, two contributing sites, and nine contributing structures in a rural section of Pender County. The district includes a collection of community buildings and houses constructed as part of the Penderlea Homesteads New Deal project. It includes 88 one-story, frame dwellings constructed as part of the original homestead project. Penderlea was the first experimental farm-city colony established by the United States government through the United States Department of the Interior’s Division of Subsistence Homesteads. Wallace is a town in Duplin and Pender counties in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The population was 3,880 at the 2010 census. The Pender County portion of Wallace is part of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The W. Stokes Boney House, Isaac M. North Carolina Highway 11 (NC 11) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Traveling in a north–south alignment through Eastern North Carolina, it connects the towns and cities of Wallace, Kenansville, Kinston, Greenville and Murfreesboro. Area codes 910 and 472 are area codes serving southeastern North Carolina, including the cities of Wilmington, Jacksonville, Laurinburg, Lumberton and Fayetteville. Area code 910 was established in 1993 as a split from area code 919, and was the state's first new area code in 39 years. Originally, it covered a fan-shaped region in the southeastern and north-central portions of the state, including the Piedmont Triad, the Sandhills, and the southeastern coast.
