John Wilcock
John Wilcock (4 August 1927 – 13 September 2018) was a British journalist known for his work in the underground press, as well as his travel guide books. The first news editor of the New York ''Village Voice'', Wilcock shook up staid publishing in the USA. His influence extended to several continents, including Australia and the United Kingdom, where—in his mild-mannered way—he pushed the boundaries of image and speech. Peter Wilcock
Peter Howard Wilcock (born 18 November 1945) is an English professional golfer. He won the Italian BP Open in 1972 and represented England in the 1973 World Cup. Wilcock is remembered for scoring a hole-in-one on two successive days in the 1974 Penfold Tournament. On the second day he holed out at the 133-yard 5th hole winning a saloon car worth nearly £2,000, providing that no other professional achieved the feat during the tournament. He took out an insurance policy against this eventuality and then holed out again on the third day, at the 176-yard 11th hole. Golf career Wilcock showed promise as a young professional, finishing fourth in Lord Derby’s Under-23 Professional Tournament in 1968, scoring a course-record 69 in the final round. The following year he was again fourth in the under-25 Coca-Cola Young Professionals' Championship. Wilcock was runner-up in the 1970 Daks Tournament at Wentworth, three shots behind Neil Coles. Gordon Wilcock
Howard Gordon Wilcock (born 26 February 1950) is a former English cricketer who played first-class and List A cricket for Worcestershire during the 1970s. Wilcock was educated at Giggleswick School. He signed by Worcestershire in 1968, having been spotted playing club cricket for Ilkley Cricket Club. He made one Second XI appearance for the county that season, and many more in 1969, but Brian Krikken prevented his standing as keeper until the end of the year. Wilcock also played for Dudley Cricket Club during this period, and continued in the seconds in 1970. He made his first-class debut against Oxford University at The University Parks in May 1971, though in a game affected by the weather he did not get to bat, and effected only one dismissal, taking the catch to remove John Ward. Clifford Wilcock
Group Captain Clifford Arthur Bowman Wilcock, (28 April 1898 – 14 January 1962) was a British engineer, company director and politician who is noted for his contributions to civil and military aviation. Great War service Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, Wilcock was educated at St Dunstan's College in Catford. He had joined the 14th London Regiment ( London Scottish) in 1912 and served with them in the First World War, later transferring to the Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment. Wounded at Ypres, he was seconded into the Royal Flying Corps in June 1917 on his recovery, and he became a founding member of the Royal Air Force. He won the Air Force Cross in 1919. George Wilcock
George Harrie Wilcock (24 January 1890 – 1962) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper for various clubs either side of the First World War. Football career Wilcock was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and from school he joined the Royal Field Artillery. He left the Army in 1909 to start his footballing career, initially with Bradford Park Avenue before joining Barnsley of the Football League Second Division in January 1910. Wilcock remained with Barnsley for two years, but made only four first-team appearances, as cover for regular goalkeeper, Jack Cooper. In 1912, he moved to Goole Town of the Midland League for a season, followed by a move to the south coast to join Brighton & Hove Albion of the Southern League in 1913.
