Wigan RUFC
Wigan Rugby Union Football Club are a rugby union team based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. Founded in 1913, they are based at Douglas Valley on the far edges of the Haigh Estate. Senior training nights are Tuesday and Thursday (7.30pm) with Junior training on Wednesday at 6.30pm. The club has great social facilities across 3 rooms that are all available for hire. There is also a commercial standard kitchen for use in providing catering. Wigan has produced world famous talent that includes among others the late Mike Gregory, Joe Lydon and Andy Gregory who went on to forge careers at the top of Rugby League, and the likes of Dave Cusani and many others who gained international and county honours at Rugby Union. In 2016/17, for the first time in the club's 104-year history they finally have mini, junior and colts teams playing in every age group, with an added bonus of an U5's and 6's training team. Wigan ( ) is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, on the River Douglas, Lancashire, River Douglas. South Lancs/Cheshire 2
Lancs/Cheshire Division Two (usually referred to as Lancs/Cheshire 2) was a regional English Rugby Union league for teams in Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester at level 9 of the English rugby union system. Teams were promoted to Lancs/Cheshire 1 and after the cancellation of Lancs/Cheshire 3 at the end of the 2019–20 season there was no relegation. The division was initially known as North-West West 2 when it was created in 1987, and had a number of different names with South Lancs/Cheshire 2 being the longest running. North West 1 (not to be confused with North 1 West) was an English Rugby Union league which was at the seventh tier of the domestic competition and was available to teams in North West England. Promoted teams moved up to North 2 West while relegated teams dropped to North West 2. The division was abolished at the end of the 1999–00 season due to RFU restructuring with teams being transferred to either North 2 West or their relevant regional leagues such as South Lancs/Cheshire 1 or North Lancs/Cumbria. North West 3 was an English Rugby Union league which was at the ninth tier of the domestic competition and was available to teams in North West England. Promoted teams moved up to North West 2 while relegated teams dropped to either South Lancs/Cheshire 1 or North Lancs/Cumbria depending on their location. At the end of the 1999-2000 the division was cancelled along with North West 1, North West 2, and their counterparts North East 1, North East 2 and North East 3, due to northern league restructuring by the RFU.
