Wiesbaden Phantoms
The Wiesbaden Phantoms are an American football team from Wiesbaden, Germany. The team experienced its greatest success in 2010, earning promotion to the German Football League. History The club was formed in 1984, originally as a department of a local association football club and, from 1986, independent as the AFC Wiesbaden Phantoms e.V.. The Wiesbaden Phantoms first entered league football in 1985, when they joined the tier-three '' Regionalliga Mitte''. In this league, the club was instantaneously successful, winning it in 1985 and 1986. The ''Phantoms'' earned promotion to the central division of the ''2nd Bundesliga'' on the strength of these titles, a league the club would play in for the next six seasons. The team's best result in this era was a second place in 1991, but a sixth-place finish the following season saw the club relegated back to the ''Regionalliga''. The 2017 German Football League season was the 39th edition of the top-level American football competition in Germany and 18th since the renaming of the ''American Football Bundesliga'' to German Football league. The Plattling Black Hawks are an American football team from Plattling, Germany. The club was, until 2004, known as the Deggendorf Black Hawks. The club's greatest success was earning a promotion to the German Football League in 2008 and qualifying for play-offs for the first time in 2010. History The ''Black Hawks'' entered league football in 1987, when they joined the southern division of the ''Regionalliga Bayern''. The 2021 German Football League season was the 42nd edition of the top-level American football competition in Germany. It was the first season after the 2020 season had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. The regular season started on 5 June and ended on 5 September 2021, followed by the play-offs. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the start of the season was more than one month later than in other years. The Covid-19 pandemic as well as the European League of Football "raiding" the GFL for coaches, players and even entire teams led to the withdrawal of the Hildesheim Invaders, the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates (both GFL North) and the Ingolstadt Dukes (GFL South) before the season began.
