Wiener Nationals
The Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals is a Dachshund racing event featuring Dachshunds and is held in California. The event is a charity event for Seal Beach Animal Care Center. The event has been held yearly for twenty-two years. About the event ''Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals'' is a racing event where dachshunds compete for the title of “fastest wiener in the west” and a cash prize. The dachshunds start from a gate and run approximately fifty yards to their owners who are usually enticing them with a ball or treat. The race focuses on the dog's ability to remain within the boundaries of the racing lane while maintaining speed. Regional qualifiers from Texas, California, and other southwestern states come together at Los Alamitos Race Course in California to race in the “Holiday Bowl” and participate annually in the “Holiday Bowl Parade,” a yearly event focused on the Holiday Bowl Football Game. Wienerschnitzel
Wienerschnitzel is an American fast food chain founded in 1961 (as "Der Wienerschnitzel") that specializes in hot dogs. Despite the name, the company does not sell Wiener schnitzel, only selling it once as a promotional item. Wienerschnitzel locations are found predominantly in California and Texas, though others are located in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. Outside the 50 states, there is a store located in Guam and one in Panama. Dachshund racing, or wiener dog racing, is a popular, yet controversial sporting event, primarily found in North America. Typical Dachshund races are either in length, and are run on various surfaces. Many race tracks across America host these events as fundraising or publicity events, and routinely draw the venues' largest attendance numbers of the year. In the less formal events, most entrants are not career racers, nor bred for racing. The Holiday Bowl is a post-season NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football bowl game that has been played in San Diego since 1978. San Diego County Credit Union has been the game's title sponsor since 2017, and the bowl has been officially known as the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. Past editions of the bowl were played at San Diego Stadium. Future editions are planned to be played at Petco Park in San Diego, under a five-year arrangement reached in 2021.
