Why Does The Sun Shine
''Why Does the Sun Shine? (The Sun Is a Mass of Incandescent Gas)'' is an EP by alternative rock band They Might Be Giants, released in 1993. The EP is notable for being their first release with a full-band lineup, rather than only the two original members (John Flansburgh and John Linnell) performing. It was also released as a single on 7-inch vinyl. Songs The title song is a cover of a song by Hy Zaret from Tom Glazer's 1959 album '' Space Songs''. The lyrics for the refrain appear verbatim in the 1951 Golden Nature Guide ''Stars''. They Might Be Giants re-arranged the song in an uptempo version for their 1998 live album, '' Severe Tire Damage'', and their 2009 children's album, ''Here Comes Science'', on which they added the self-penned "Why Does the Sun Really Shine? (The Sun is a Miasma of Incandescent Plasma)", which corrects several factual inaccuracies in the original song. It was also included on the soundtrack to the children's game show '' Carmen Sandiego: Out of This W ...

Dickey Betts
Forrest Richard Betts (born December 12, 1943) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer best known as a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band. Early in his career, he collaborated with Duane Allman, introducing melodic twin guitar harmony and counterpoint which "rewrote the rules for how two rock guitarists can work together, completely scrapping the traditional rhythm/lead roles to stand toe to toe". Following Allman's death in 1971, Betts assumed sole lead guitar duties during the peak of the group's commercial success in the mid-1970s. Betts was the writer and singer on the Allmans' hit single " Ramblin' Man". He also gained renown for composing instrumentals, with one appearing on most of the group's albums, including "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and " Jessica" (which was later used as the theme to ''Top Gear''). The band went through a hiatus in the late 1970s, during which time Betts, like many of the other band members, pursued a solo career and ...

KaBlam!
''KaBlam!'' (stylized as ''KaBLaM!'') is an American animated sketch comedy television series that ran on Nickelodeon from 1996 to 2000. The series was created by Robert Mittenthal, Will McRobb, and Chris Viscardi. The show was developed as a fully animated showcase for alternative forms of animation that were more common in indie films and commercials. Each episode thus features a collection of short films in different innovative styles of animation, bridged by the characters Henry and June, who introduce the short animations and have adventures of their own in between. Although SNICK aired many Nicktoons not part of its block, ''KaBlam!'' was the only Nicktoon created for SNICK. The show became TV-Y in 1997 (when the U.S. content ratings were put to use), until later that year when the rating was changed to TV-Y7 due to the U.S. content ratings having accidentally rated the show TV-Y by mistake. The show was a critical and commercial success. The show was last aired as a part ...

John Henry (album)
''John Henry'' is the fifth studio album by American alternative rock group They Might Be Giants. It was released in 1994. It is the first album by They Might Be Giants to include a full band arrangement, rather than synthesized and programmed backing tracks. The album's name, a reference to the man versus machine fable of John Henry, is an allusion to the band's fundamental switch to more conventional instrumentation, especially the newly established use of a human drummer instead of a drum machine. ''John Henry'' is TMBG's longest record and was the band's highest-charting adult album, having peaked at #61 on the Billboard 200, until 2011's ''Join Us'', which peaked at #32. In 2013, the album was reissued across a double LP by Asbestos Records. Lyrical themes The lyrics to the song "AKA Driver" refer to a "NyQuil driver". John Flansburgh offered an explanation of the legal issue with the inclusion of a brand name: "I Should Be Allowed to Think" excerpts the first line ("I s ...

Music Opening with what Greg Prato described as "razor-sharp rock" on "Sam", ''Forbidden Places'' explored several styles including blues on "Nail it Down" and country on "Six Gallon Pie" and "That's How It Goes". Reception AllMusic's Greg Prato proclaimed ''Forbidden Places'' to be "one of he band'sfinest albums", complementing the album's more country-informed tracks as "splendidly" showing off the Meat Puppets' "cowboy roots". In August 1991, Greg Kot of the ''Chicago Tribune'' praised ''Forbidden Places'', awarding it three and a half-of-four stars and writing that the band's "casual brilliance becomes more dazzling with each play". Meat Puppets
Meat Puppets are an American rock band formed in January 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. The group's original lineup was Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals), his brother Cris Kirkwood (bass guitar/vocals), and Derrick Bostrom (drums). The Kirkwood brothers met Bostrom while attending Brophy Prep High School in Phoenix. The three then moved to Tempe, Arizona (a Phoenix suburb and home to Arizona State University), where the Kirkwood brothers purchased two adjacent homes, one of which had a shed in the back where they regularly practiced. Meat Puppets started as a punk rock band, but like most of their labelmates on SST Records, they established their own unique style, blending punk with country and psychedelic rock, and featuring Curt's warbling vocals. Meat Puppets later gained significant exposure when the Kirkwood brothers served as guest musicians on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. The band's 1994 album '' Too High to Die'' subsequently became their most successful releas ...

Brothers And Sisters (album)
''Brothers and Sisters'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band The Allman Brothers Band. Co- produced by Johnny Sandlin and the band, the album was released in August 1973 in the United States by Capricorn Records. Following the death of group leader Duane Allman in 1971, the Allman Brothers Band released '' Eat a Peach'' (1972), a hybrid studio/live album that became their biggest yet. Afterwards, the group purchased a farm in Juliette, Georgia, to become a "group hangout". However, bassist Berry Oakley was visibly suffering from the death of Duane, excessively drinking and consuming drugs. In November of 1972, after nearly a year of severe depression, Oakley was killed in a motorcycle accident (not dissimilar from Duane’s), making it the last album on which he played. The band carried on, adding new members Chuck Leavell on piano and Lamar Williams on bass. ''Brothers and Sisters'' was largely recorded over a period of three months at Capricorn Sound Studios in ...
