''White Nights'' (russian: Белые ночи, Belye nochi) is a 1959 Soviet drama film directed by Ivan Pyryev. Plot The film takes place in St. Petersburg in the middle of the 19th century in the summer. The film tells about a lonely dreamer, who meets a girl named Nastya, whom he immediately falls in love with. Every night they walk around the city together. It seems to the dreamer that he has found his soul mate, but another man appears in Nastya's life... Ivan Aleksandrovich Pyryev (russian: Ива́н Алекса́ндрович Пы́рьев; – 7 February 1968) was a Soviet-Russian film director and screenwriter remembered as the high priest of Stalinist cinema. Galina Polskikh (Гали́на Алекса́ндровна По́льских, born 27 November 1939) is a Soviet film actress. She has appeared in more than 100 films since 1962. In 1979 she was awarded the title of People's Artist of Russia, and in 1999 - Order of Honour (fourth degree).
