Whine Up
"Whine Up" is the debut single by American singer Kat DeLuna, released from her debut album, '' 9 Lives''. The song features Elephant Man. It was believed that Puerto Rican rapper Ivy Queen was featured, but DeLuna herself provided the rap. The song earned DeLuna a ''Billboard'' Latin Music Award for "Latin Dance Club Play Track Of The Year." The title comes from the Caribbean English (West Indian) pronunciation of ''wind up'' meaning to move one's hips on the dance floor. Music video DeLuna had asked fans that live in the New York City area to send in a video of them dancing on her song so they might win the opportunity to be featured in the music video for the song. Kathleen Emperatriz DeLuna (born November 26, 1987) is an American singer. DeLuna began pursuing a career as a singer when she was a teenager and later signed with Epic Records. Her debut single, "Whine Up", released in 2007, went on to become a commercial success, entering the Top 40 in numerous countries and topping the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. Her debut studio album, '' 9 Lives'' (2007), failed to see the success of its lead single. Miss Teen USA 2007, the 25th Miss Teen USA pageant, was held on August 24, 2007 in Pasadena, California. At the conclusion of the final night of the competition Hilary Cruz of Colorado was crowned Miss Teen USA 2007 by outgoing titleholder Katie Blair of Montana. The event was hosted by Mario Lopez, who also hosted Miss Teen USA 1998 and Miss Teen USA 2003. In 2007 he also hosted the Miss America and Miss Universe pageants.
