Wallace Worsley
Wallace A. Worsley, Sr. (December 8, 1878 – March 26, 1944) was an American stage actor who became a film director in the silent era. During his career, Worsley directed 29 films and acted in 7 films. He directed several motion pictures starring Lon Chaney Sr., and his professional relationship with the actor was the best Chaney had, second to his partnership with Tod Browning. ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame'' (1923) is one of his best-known works, along with '' The Penalty'' (1920). Worsley's 1922 horror film ''A Blind Bargain'' with Chaney is one of the most sought after lost films. Acting In April 1901 Worsely appeared at the Empire Theatre (41st Street) as Lt. Earl of Hunstanton in a revival of Leo Trevor's comedy ''Brother Officers''. It ran for eight performances. He followed this immediately with ''Diplomacy'', which ran for about six weeks. John Cossar
John Hay Cossar (2 January 1858 – 28 April 1935) was an English actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 140 films between 1914 and 1929. Biography Cossar was born in London, England. He was the fifth child of Walter Cossar and his wife Kate Lyster. Walter was in the Royal Marines between 1835 and 1863. In 1865 the family travelled to Canada and thence to Chicago, Illinois in the USA where John's older brother Walter Lyster Cossar later became City Editor of the Chicago Evening Journal. In 1896, John married Fanny Cohen in Chicago. Fanny was also an actress and the 1930 census of Los Angeles shows them living with two children, Phyllis and Raymond. He died in Hollywood, California, in 1935. Jack Mower (September 5, 1890 – January 6, 1965) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 520 films between 1914 and 1965. He was born in Honolulu and died in Hollywood. After studying at Punahou College, in Honolulu, Mower moved to the mainland, and performed in vaudeville and in musical comedies on stage. His work on screen included serials and silent films. Mower was a leading man in silent films, but played bit parts after sound films came into vogue.
