John Cossar
John Hay Cossar (2 January 1858 – 28 April 1935) was an English actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 140 films between 1914 and 1929. Biography Cossar was born in London, England. He was the fifth child of Walter Cossar and his wife Kate Lyster. Walter was in the Royal Marines between 1835 and 1863. In 1865 the family travelled to Canada and thence to Chicago, Illinois in the USA where John's older brother Walter Lyster Cossar later became City Editor of the Chicago Evening Journal. In 1896, John married Fanny Cohen in Chicago. Fanny was also an actress and the 1930 census of Los Angeles shows them living with two children, Phyllis and Raymond. He died in Hollywood, California, in 1935. Bryant Washburn
Franklin Bryant Washburn III (April 28, 1889 – April 30, 1963) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 370 films between 1911 and 1947. Washburn's parents were Franklin Bryant Washburn II and Metha Catherine Johnson Washburn. He attended Lake View High School in Chicago. Washburn's early acting experience came in stock theater. He debuted in film in 1911 with Essanay Studios. He quickly became a comedy star after appearing in films such as ''Skinner's Baby'' and ''Skinner's Dress Suit'' in 1917. His second marriage was to actress Virginia Vance. They had a child together. He died from a heart attack in Hollywood. His interment was located in Culver City, California's Holy Cross Cemetery. His son, Bryant Washburn, Jr. (1915–1960), was also an actor, a major in the US Air Force Reserve, served during World War II and Korea, and predeceased him. ''Voices of the City'' (also known as ''The Night Rose'', its intended original release title) is a 1921 American silent film, silent crime drama film starring Leatrice Joy and Lon Chaney that was directed by Wallace Worsley, based on the Leroy Scott novel ''The Night Rose''. The film took more than 9 months to be released due to a controversy over the proposed title and the film's abundance of gunplay. The film was retitled ''Voices of the City'' and was only released in December 1921, although it had been completed in early March. The film is still listed under ''The Night Rose'' in some reference sources. The ball sequence involved 300 couples and took five days to film. It is considered a lost film today.
