Devon ( , historically known as Devonshire , ) is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in South West England. East Devon is a Non-metropolitan district, local government district in Devon, England. Its council has been based in Honiton since February 2019, and the largest town is Exmouth (with a population of 34,432 at the time of the 2011 census). East Devon (UK Parliament Constituency)
East Devon is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Simon Jupp of the Conservative Party. A report by the Electoral Reform Society found the seat (and its precursors) has been held by the Conservative Party since 1835, meaning it has been held for 186 years. This is currently the longest held seat by one party anywhere in the country. Sidmouth
Sidmouth () is a town on the English Channel in Devon, South West England, southeast of Exeter. With a population of 12,569 in 2011, it is a tourist resort and a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. A large part of the town has been designated a conservation area. The Donkey Sanctuary
The Donkey Sanctuary is a British charitable organisation devoted to the welfare of donkeys. The charity, which is based near Sidmouth in Devon, England, was founded in 1969. It is one of the largest equine charities in the world with an annual income and expenditure of £37 million. History The Donkey Sanctuary was founded in 1969 by Elisabeth Svendsen. It was registered as a charity in 1973. Svendsen was prompted to start the sanctuary following a visit to Exeter Market when she saw seven small donkeys crammed into a small pen. After she tried unsuccessfully to buy the donkey in the worst condition, she decided that instead of breeding donkeys she would try and save them. By 1973 Svendsen was caring for 38 donkeys. Branscombe
Branscombe is a village in the East Devon district of the English County of Devon. The parish covers . Its permanent population in 2009 was estimated at 513 by the Family Health Services Authority, reducing to 507 at the 2011 Census. It is located within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, overlooking Lyme Bay. Branscombe has one of the South West's most scenic bus routes. Weston Mouth
Weston Mouth is an isolated beach on the East Devon coast between Sidmouth and Seaton, Devon, Seaton in England. It can be reached only by footpath, either along the South West Coast Path or from the village of Weston, Devon, Weston. The beach is mostly shingle with some sand at low tide, and has no facilities. Parts of the beach have a long tradition of use as a nudist beach. This is well known locally and has continued without significant problem for many years. It is 1 of 19 nude beaches in the United Kingdom, and one of three in Devon.
