Western Autistic School
Western Autistic School, in the Melbourne suburb of Laverton, Australia, is an educational organisation for students in prep to grade three who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The school caters for students up to grade 3. History and faculties Western Autistic School, prior to 1990, was officially known as the Western Autistic Centre. It was parents who first saw the need for an educational centre specifically for autistic children and worked towards it being established in 1979. The purchase of the house and land at 98 Ascot Vale Road in Flemington, in 1984 represented a huge step forward. The school operated from that site when it transferred to the Ministry of Education on 1 February 1990. The school grew rapidly on transfer to the Ministry and the Northern Annexe was opened in January 1992 in response to a growing waiting list. Laverton, Victoria
Laverton established in 1886, is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Hobsons Bay and Wyndham local government areas. Laverton recorded a population of 4,760 at the 2021 census. It was home to the RAAF Base (RAAF Williams), and covers 148 ha in the suburb of Laverton. Laverton was originally established to support the greater rate of flying and maintenance activities after the formation of the RAAF in 1921. Many homes in the surrounding area were colloquially called the “cabbage patch”, in reference to the boom of young families after the return of soldiers from WWII. Fences in the area also used to be low (below 1m) to originally form a shared community with no fence at the front. Niddrie is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Moonee Valley local government area. Niddrie recorded a population of 5,901 at the 2021 census. Niddrie is bounded by the Calder Freeway to the north, Steele Creek to the west, Hoffmans Road to the east and Rosehill Road to the south.
