West Lane
West Lane, or Acklam Green, is an area in West Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It is within the TS5 postcode area and bounded by Whinney Banks to the south; Newport, Ayresome and Gresham to the north; Linthorpe to the east and the A19 to the west. The area is in the Ayresome ward, along with Whinney Banks. History West Lane developed between Ayresome and Whinney Banks west of West Lane Hospital. The area became unpopular, by the late 1990s after the A19 and A66 was built to the west (between the Old River Tees and West Lane) and north (through old allotments). Over a third of the properties were void with the area becoming part of the New Deal for Communities (organised by the West Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Trust) as a programme for housing renewal in 1999. Whinney Banks is an area in west Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The area is on the Old River Tees's southern banks, the river's main flow was redirected with the Mandale Cut, the A19 is between the old river and the area. It is within the TS5 postcode area and a part of the Ayresome ward, along with West Lane. History Whinney Banks was originally of around 550 houses, built in the 1930s and 1940s, forming part of a wider expanse of social housing in west Middlesbrough. Linthorpe
Linthorpe is an inner-area of Middlesbrough in the Borough of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. It contains two wards: Linthorpe (containing the cemetery with a population of 9,711) and Park (containing Albert Park with a population of 5,919). It is near the areas of Acklam, Ayresome, Grove Hill, Middlesbrough centre and Whinney Banks. History Deriving from 'Leofa's village', the present name of Linthorpe has also been recorded as Levynthrop, Levingthorp and Linthrop. Michael Joseph "Micky" Moody (born 30 August 1950) is an English guitarist, and a former member of the rock bands Juicy Lucy and Whitesnake. He was also a founder-member of Snafu. Together with his former Whitesnake colleague Bernie Marsden he founded the Moody Marsden Band, and later, The Snakes, having previously collaborated with unofficial 5th Status Quo member Bob Young in Young & Moody.
