West Hills (Pennsylvania)
The West Hills is a term generally used to collectively describe the western suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A smaller portion of the area is known as the Airport Area. Though most communities are located southwest and west of the Ohio River, some of the West Hills area is located on the northern side of the river. I-79 and state routes 60 and 65 serve the West Hills, with I-376 (known locally as the Parkway West), connecting the region to the Pittsburgh International Airport. Moon Township is a township along the Ohio River in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Moon is a part of the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area and is located northwest of Pittsburgh. The population was 27,261 at the 2020 census. History Early history (1756–1773) The initial settlement of Moon Township was a direct result of the westward expansion of English settlers and traders who arrived in the Ohio Valley in the early to mid-18th century.
