Wendron United F.C.
Wendron United Football Club is a football club based in Wendron, Cornwall. They are currently members of the and play at The Underlane. History Wendron United F.C. was formed in 1986 as the football section of Wendron Cricket Club. As Wendron CC United, they joined the Cornwall Combination in 1998, and stayed there until 2007–08 when they joined the South West Peninsula League Division One West, dropping the 'CC' from their name. They remained in that league for two seasons before resigning mid-season in 2009–10. Returning to the Cornwall Combination, they finished runners-up in 2013–14 and 2014–15, and gained promotion back to the SWPL Division One West. At the end of 2018–19 the league was restructured, and Wendron successfully applied for promotion to the Premier Division West, at Step 6 of the National League System. Wendron ( kw, Egloswendron (village), Pluw Wendron (parish); historically St. Wendron) is a village and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, to the north of Helston. The parish population at the 2011 census was 2,743. The electoral ward of Wendron had a 2011 population of 4,936. History The parish of Wendron was part of the Hundred of Kerrier and was originally bounded by the parishes of Illogan, Gwennap, Stithians, Constantine, Mawgan-in-Meneage, Gunwalloe, Sithney and Crowan. Until the mid 19th-century the parish of Wendron included the town of Helston and what are now the parishes of Carnmenellis and Pencoys. Cornwall Combination
The Cornwall Combination League is a football competition based in the western half of Cornwall, England, formed in 1959. The current league sponsors are drinks retailers LWC. The league has a single division of 20 clubs, being larger than any league below step 6 in the English football league system. The Champion club may apply for promotion to the St Piran Football League, West Division. The bottom clubs may be relegated to one of the level 13 leagues of the English football league system – normally the Trelawny League. The South West Peninsula League (SWPL) is a football competition in England, which was formed in 2007 from the merger of the Devon County League and the South Western League. The league is restricted to clubs based in Cornwall, Devon and West Dorset. The league consists of two Premier Divisions (East and West), which are ranked at Step 6 in the National League System. The National League System comprises the six levels of the English football league system immediately below the level of the English Football League. It comes under the jurisdiction of The Football Association. The National League System has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels. The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. 2021–22 FA Vase
The 2021–22 FA Vase (Known for sponsorship reasons as the Buildbase FA Vase) was the 48th season of the FA Vase, an annual football competition for teams playing in Levels 9 and 10 (steps 5 & 6) of the English National League System. The competition is played with two qualifying rounds followed by six proper rounds, semi-finals, and the final played at Wembley Stadium. All ties this season were played to a finish on the day. For this season there were no replays in any of the rounds to minimise fixture congestion due to late start of the football season brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. If games finished level after 90 minutes, the match was decided by penalties to find the winner of the tie, apart from the Final where there were 30 minutes extra time (15 minutes each way) followed by penalties if still level after the extra time period.
