Wen-Pin Hope Lee
Wen-Pin Hope Lee (; born 1967) is a Hoklo Taiwanese contemporary music composer and Professor. His works comprise a variety of genres, including symphonies, theatre, dance, solo works, chamber music, computer music, and multimedia performance art. In 2004 he began his Taiwan Series of compositions: a body of work inspired by Taiwanese culture, including Indigenous peoples and Hakka melodies, sung texts in Taiwanese, and the ambient sounds of Taiwan locales. Lee is the winner of the 2006 Golden Melody Award for Best Composer of Traditional and Artistic Music and a nominee for the 2007 Golden Melody Award for his recording of his five-act theatre dance piece ''Hsiahai City God through Water of Mengjia''. In 2013, Lee won an award for his collaborative work with Radio Taiwan International on “''Happiness on March''” at 48th Golden Bell Awards. Artist
An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. 17th Golden Melody Awards
The 17th Golden Melody Awards were held on 10 June 2006 at the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan. Summary Although alternative musicians were nominated several times for awards, most of the categories were won by mainstream artists. The award ceremony featured South Korean pop singer Se7en as a guest artist. Chinese American rap artist Jin also performed with Taiwanese American singer Leehom Wang for their song titled '' Heroes of Earth''. The ''Taipei Times'' also dubbed the ceremony as having one of the "worst performances to date" due to poorly rehearsed performances by Singaporean artist Stefanie Sun and Hong Kong singer Eason Chan. The 2009 Summer Deaflympics (), officially known as the XXI Summer Deaflympic Games and commonly known as Taipei 2009, is an international multi-sport event that was celebrated from 5 to 15 September 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China). The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) is a doctoral academic degree in music. Marjorie Merryman
Marjorie Merryman (born 1951) is an American composer, author, and music educator. She is a member of the composition faculty at the Manhattan School of Music since 2007, where she also served as Interim President, Provost and Senior Vice President at Manhattan School of Music. She previously taught at Boston University and Macalester College. While at BU, she was commissioned by many professional musical ensembles to write pieces ranging from small chamber works to a full opera. She has written and published pieces such as "Chinese Moon Poems", a women's choral piece based on Chinese poems about the moon. Theodore Antoniou
Theodore Antoniou ( el, Θεόδωρος Αντωνίου, ''Theódoros Andoníou''; February 10, 1935 – December 26, 2018), was a Greek composer and conductor. Lukas Foss
Lukas Foss (August 15, 1922 – February 1, 2009) was a German-American composer, pianist, and conductor. Career Born Lukas Fuchs in Berlin, Germany in 1922, Foss was soon recognized as a child prodigy. He began piano and theory lessons with Julius Goldstein erfordin Berlin at the age of six. His parents were Hilde (Schindler) and the philosopher and scholar Martin Foss. He moved with his family to Paris in 1933, where he studied piano with Lazare Lévy, composition with Noël Gallon, orchestration with Felix Wolfes, and flute with Marcel Moyse. In 1937 he moved with his parents and brother to the United States, where his father (on advice from the Quakers who had taken the family in upon arrival in Philadelphia) changed the family name to Foss.
