''Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City'' is a 2021 action horror film written and directed by Johannes Roberts. Adapted from the stories of the first and second games by Capcom, it serves as a reboot of the ''Resident Evil'' film series and is the seventh live-action film based on the video game series. The film stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue, and Neal McDonough. Set in 1998, it follows a group of survivors trying to survive during a zombie outbreak in the small town of Raccoon City. Johannes Roberts (born 24 May 1976) is a British film director, screenwriter and producer. He directed the film ''47 Meters Down'' and its sequel, as well as ''The Other Side of the Door'', '' The Strangers: Prey at Night'' and '' Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City''. Greg Russo (screenwriter)
Greg Russo is an American screenwriter and director. He is best known for writing the 2021 film adaptation of ''Mortal Kombat''. He is also set to write a sequel to the 2017 film ''Death Note'', adaptations of ''F.E.A.R.'' ''Saints Row'', ''Space Invaders'' and ''System Shock'', which he will also direct. On 6 March 2019, he was appointed honorary professor at University of Television and Film Munich.
