Weeping For A Bandit
''Weeping for a Bandit'' ( es, Llanto por un bandido) is a 1964 Spanish drama film directed by Carlos Saura. It was Saura's first film in color. It was co-produced with France and Italy, and starred Italian Lea Massari and French-Italian Lino Ventura. Thanks to his friendship with Saura, filmmaker Luis Buñuel has a small role. The film was entered into the 14th Berlin International Film Festival. Carlos Saura
Carlos Saura Atarés (born 4 January 1932) is a Spanish film director, photographer and writer. Along with Luis Buñuel and Pedro Almodóvar, he is considered to be one of Spain’s most renowned filmmakers. He has a long and prolific career that spans over half a century. His films have won many international awards. Saura began his career in 1955 making documentary shorts. He quickly gained international prominence when his first feature-length film premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 1960. Although he started filming as a neorealist, Saura quickly switched to films encoded with metaphors and symbolism in order to get around the Spanish censors. In 1966, he was thrust into the international spotlight when his film ''La Caza'' won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. José Hernández (5 January 1944 – 20 November 2013) was a Spanish painter and plastic artist. Born in Tangier, Morocco, in 1944, he made his first exhibition in Tanger "Librairie des Colonnes" (1962). There he was soon admitted into the artistic circles. commented: "During these spooky visits in phantasmagoric environments, I was accompanied by the very young painter José Hernández from Tangier, who was daydreaming at the age of 17 and drew angry cats." Pablo Runyan Kelting (1925 – February 14, 2002) was a Panamanian surrealist painter who lived and worked in Madrid from 1951 until his death in 2002. Biography Runyan was son of a famous doctor and a mother specialized in the cultivation of bonsais, an art he continued in Spain creating an important collection. Born and raised in Panama, he moved 1943 to New York, where he met writer Anaïs Nin, who became his protector. She helped him to get into the famous Art Academy Max Ernst. Runyan was a friend of Andre Breton, Peggy Guggenheim, Max Ernst, Ava Gardner or Leonard Bernstein. He lived in Paris and London, and moved to Madrid 1951, where he resumed painting. Antonio Buero Vallejo (September 29, 1916 – April 29, 2000) was a Spanish playwright associated with the Generation of '36 movement and considered the most important Spanish dramatist of the Spanish Civil War. Biography During his career he won three National Theatre Prizes (in 1957, 1958 and 1959), a National Theatre Prize for all his career in 1980, the National Literature Prize in 1996, and the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, Spain's highest literary honour, in 1986.
