''We the Collective'' is the eleventh studio album by folk-punk rock band the Levellers. The album entered the British album charts at number 12, the band's highest charting entry in over 21 years. The 10-track album features acoustic re-recordings of many of the band's greatest hits, with two new songs "Shame" and "Drug Bust McGee". Levellers (band)
The Levellers are an English folk rock band formed in Brighton, England in 1988, consisting of Mark Chadwick (guitar and vocals), Jeremy Cunningham (bass guitar), Charlie Heather (drums), Jon Sevink (violin), Simon Friend (guitar and vocals), Matt Savage (keyboards) and Dan Donnelly (guitar and vocals). Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. Folk punk (known in its early days as rogue folk) is a fusion of folk music and punk rock. It was popularized in the early 1980s by the Pogues in England, and by Violent Femmes in the United States. On the Fiddle Recordings is an English record label established by and run by the English folk rock band the Levellers. History The label was initially founded by the band in the early 1990s to distribute limited edition albums to their fan-club members. The label went dormant, but was resurrected in 2006 when the band became disillusioned with Eagle Records’ attempt to market their music, and decided to release their music on their own independent label. The first On the Fiddle release was a live DVD, ''Chaos Theory'', in October 2006 and includes a live show from Reading Hexagon and the 1993 tour diary/concert ''Part Time Punks''. John William Leckie (born 23 October 1949) is an English record producer and recording engineer. The Levellers were a political movement active during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms who were committed to popular sovereignty, extended suffrage, equality before the law and religious tolerance. The hallmark of Leveller thought was its populism, as shown by its emphasis on equal natural rights, and their practice of reaching the public through pamphlets, petitions and vocal appeals to the crowd. The Levellers came to prominence at the end of the First English Civil War (1642–1646) and were most influential before the start of the Second Civil War (1648–49).
