''Peace'' is the twelfth studio album by folk-punk rock band the Levellers. The album entered the British album charts at #8, the band's highest charting entry since 1997's '' Mouth to Mouth'' reached #5, and improving on previous release ''We the Collective''s #12 position. The 11-track album followed 2018's ''We the Collective'', but is the band's first album composed entirely of new material since 2012's ''Static on the Airwaves''. The Levellers are an English folk rock band formed in Brighton, England in 1988, consisting of Mark Chadwick (guitar and vocals), Jeremy Cunningham (bass guitar), Charlie Heather (drums), Jon Sevink (violin), Simon Friend (guitar and vocals), Matt Savage (keyboards) and Dan Donnelly (guitar and vocals). Taking their name from the Levellers political movement, the band released their first EP in 1989 and LP in 1990, with international success following upon signing to China Records and the release of their second album '' Levelling the Land''. On the Fiddle Recordings is an English record label established by and run by the English folk rock band the Levellers. History The label was initially founded by the band in the early 1990s to distribute limited edition albums to their fan-club members. The label went dormant, but was resurrected in 2006 when the band became disillusioned with Eagle Records’ attempt to market their music, and decided to release their music on their own independent label. Sean Lakeman
Sean Lakeman (born 29 January 1974) is an English folk musician and record producer. Early life Sean was born and brought up as the first of three boys in Buckland Monachorum, near Yelverton, Devon with his brothers, fellow folk musicians Seth Lakeman and Sam Lakeman. He began playing guitar at the age of six. He played with his parents, Geoff and Joy Lakeman, and with his brothers in a family band. He also made up a quarter of the BBC Radio 2 "Young Tradition Band" alongside Catriona MacDonald, Luke Daniels and Simon Thoumire. Career In his early career, he partnered folk fiddle veteran Tom McConville on the UK folk club circuit, and from the early 1990s, played guitar as part of The Lakeman Brothers, with brothers Seth on violin and Sam on piano. The Levellers were a political movement active during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms who were committed to popular sovereignty, extended suffrage, equality before the law and religious tolerance. The hallmark of Leveller thought was its populism, as shown by its emphasis on equal natural rights, and their practice of reaching the public through pamphlets, petitions and vocal appeals to the crowd. The Levellers came to prominence at the end of the First English Civil War (1642–1646) and were most influential before the start of the Second Civil War (1648–49).
