The Wawa River ( tl, Ilog Wawa; ceb, Suba sa Wawa) is a river located in Caraga, in northeastern Mindanao, in the southern Philippine island. Its headwaters traverse the municipality of Sibagat, Bayugan, and Esperanza (all of the province of Agusan del Sur). The Wawa River is a tributary of the larger Agusan River. Etymology ''Wawa'' came from the Dumagat term that means an "entrance" or "passage". The river was once used by early settlers as a means of transportation during the early years. Geography The river originates at the Diwata Mountain Range of the northeastern hinterlands of Sibagat in barangays Kolambugan and Padiay and streams traversing the riverbank barangays of Perez, Banagbanag, Santa Cruz, Magsaysay, San Isidro I, Villangit, Poblacion, Tag-uyango, San Vicente, Ilihan (all in the municipality of Sibagat), and barangays Del Carmen (''formerly'' ''Wawa''), Mabuhay, Canayugan, San Agustin, Sagmone, Noli, Maygatasan, Verdu, Salvacion (all in the City of Bayuga ...

Sibagat, Agusan Del Sur
Sibagat, officially the Municipality of Sibagat ( ceb, Lungsod sa Sibagat; tgl, Bayan ng Sibagat), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 33,957 people. Located at the northernmost of the province, the town is called as the ''"Gateway to Agusan del Sur"'' and ''"The Last Frontier of Agusan del Sur"''. The town is a major producer of agriculture products such as coconut, banana, vegetables and especially abaca in the province. Etymology The word ''Sibagat'' is from the word ''bagat'' which means "meet" or "meeting place". According to the oral history, the Sibagat River near Sibagat was the place where the warring tribes meet and fight. Sibagat River is tributary of a bigger river, the Wawa River.
