Waterloo is a city in and the county seat of Black Hawk County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2020 United States Census the population was 67,314, making it the eighth-largest city in the state. The city is part of the Waterloo – Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is the more populous of the two cities. History Waterloo was originally known as Prairie Rapids Crossing. The town was established near two Meskwaki American tribal seasonal camps alongside the Cedar River. It was first settled in 1845 when George and Mary Melrose Hanna and their children arrived on the east bank of the Red Cedar River (now just called the Cedar River). Midwest League
The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The Midwest League began as the Illinois State League (1947–1948) and then became the Mississippi–Ohio Valley League (1949–1955). The Waterloo Hawks were a minor league team that existed on-and-off from 1922 to 1969. From 1922 to 1932, they played in the Mississippi Valley League and in 1932 they were affiliated with the Chicago White Sox. They played in the Western League in 1936 and from 1940 to 1942 they played in the Illinois-Iowa-Indiana League and were affiliated again with the White Sox. Riverfront Stadium is a stadium in Waterloo, Iowa, located at 850 Park Road, Waterloo, Iowa 50703. It is primarily used for baseball, serving as the home field of the Waterloo Bucks baseball team of the summer collegiate Northwoods League. Riverfront Stadium has a capacity of 5,000. History Riverfront Stadium was built as Municipal Stadium in 1946. Randall Keith Champion (born September 19, 1959, in Granite City, Illinois, United States) is an American baseball executive. Previously, he scouted for Major League Baseball teams and played, coached and managed in the minor leagues. Prior to playing professionally, Champion attended Missouri State University. Edgardo Ralph Romero Rivera (born December 9, 1957) is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball infielder and coach in Major League Baseball (MLB).
