Waterfront Air () is a Chinese airline started in 2008 with the aim of reintroducing seaplane services from Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. In 2014 the airline ended plans for operating in Hong Kong and instead is focusing its operations in the Chinese mainland. History Waterfront Air was founded by Michael Agopsowicz and co-founded by Peter de Kantzow, who is the son of Sydney de Kantzow, the Australian co-founder of Cathay Pacific Airways. Six years after the company began, Waterfront Air HK ceased operations on 23 December 2014 without any established routes, according to Hong Kong's Companies Registry record. However, HaiXiang Air 海翔公務航空有限公司 will operate seaplane services in China under the English name Waterfront Air. Dapeng Peninsula
Dapeng Peninsula or Dapengbandao () is a peninsula in the east of Longgang district, that lies in the easternmost part of Shenzhen in the Guangdong Province in China.To the southwest of the peninsula is Mirs Bay and to the northeast is Daya Bay. The Dapeng dialect is the main dialect across the whole peninsula. The Dapeng Fortress (Dapengcheng) was built to protect the inhabitants from attacks by Japanese pirates (''wokou'') during the late Ming Dynasty. During the Second Opium War there was a possibility of annexation as part of British Hong Kong. Ultimately the area was never occupied by the British. Kai Tak Cruise Terminal is a cruise ship terminal on the former Kai Tak Airport runway in Hong Kong. Its completion date was delayed into 2013 due to re-tendering. Following an international competition, Foster + Partners was chosen to design the cruise terminal. The first ship berthed on 12 June 2013. The terminal has the capacity to berth two large long vessels, which carry a total of 5,400 passengers and 1,200 crew, as well as anticipating the demands of cruise liners currently on the drawing board. Kai Tak Airport was the international airport of Hong Kong from 1925 until 1998. Officially known as Hong Kong International Airport from 1954 to 6 July 1998, it is often referred to as Hong Kong International Airport, Kai Tak, or simply Kai Tak and Kai Tak International Airport, to distinguish it from its successor, Chek Lap Kok International Airport, built on reclaimed and levelled land around the islands of Chek Lap Kok and Lam Chau, to the west. The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter is a Canadian STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) utility aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada, which produced the aircraft from 1965 to 1988; Viking Air purchased the type certificate, then restarted production in 2008 before re-adopting the DHC name in 2022. An airline hub or hub airport is an airport used by one or more airlines to concentrate passenger traffic and flight operations. Hubs serve as transfer (or stop-over) points to help get passengers to their final destination. It is part of the hub-and-spoke system. An airline may operate flights from several non-hub (spoke) cities to the hub airport, and passengers traveling between spoke cities connect through the hub. This paradigm creates economies of scale that allow an airline to serve (via an intermediate connection) city-pairs that could otherwise not be economically served on a non-stop basis.
