Warringah Rats
Warringah Rugby Club is a rugby union club based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales. Only located 25 km from the city centre, the club is close to many magnificent beaches, the Sydney Academy of Sport and Narrabeen Lake. The club currently competes in the New South Wales Rugby Union competitions, the Shute Shield and Tooheys New Cup. Warringah Rugby has one of the largest numbers of registered junior players in Australia. Club history The club was formed in 1963 due to a high demand of junior rugby players searching for clubs on the northern peninsula. Being one of the most rapidly developing areas in Sydney at the time this subsequently led to the establishment in the 1962/1963 season of the Warringah Junior Rugby Union. The Senior Club was formed to supplement the already established Warringah Junior Rugby Union and commenced playing in the Sydney second division in 1964. Narrabeen
Narrabeen is a beachside suburb in northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Narrabeen is 23 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region. This area was named Broken Bay by James Cook as he sailed by. History There are a number of theories on the origin of the name "Narrabeen". The most fanciful is that Narrabeen is named after "narrow beans" which the English in the first year of settlement (1788) found and ate from a vine growing over beach sand. Surgeon White indeed recorded getting ill from such beans but this was well north of Narrabeen, near Broken Bay. The name Narrobine Creek appears in 1801 in records relating to two escaped convicts, and thus the name appears to have been in use before then. Pekahou Cowan
Pekahou J. M. Cowan (born 2 June 1986) is an Australian rugby union footballer who plays for Wellington in New Zealand's National Provincial Championship. His usual position is prop and he can play on both sides of the scrum. Early life Cowan was born in Wellington, New Zealand but moved with his family to Sydney when he was 13 years of age. He was a young golfing talent with a handicap of four at the age of 15, and won a scholarship with the Long Reef Golf Club. Attending Narrabeen Sports High School, he was selected for the Australian Schoolboys rugby union team in 2003 and 2004. Mungo Mason (born 4 October 1995) is a Scottish professional rugby union player who plays as a flanker (back row) for Old Glory DC in Major League Rugby (MLR). He previously played for the San Diego Legion in the MLR and Edinburgh in the Pro14. Early life Born in Carluke, Scotland. Sailosi Tagicakibau (born 14 November 1982) is a rugby union footballer who has played at wing for London Irish and Wasps in the Aviva Premiership. Enrique "Topo" Edgardo Rodríguez is an Argentina-born Australian former rugby union player. Rodriguez retired from rugby union after having played at international level for Argentina, Tahiti and Australia. He was part of the Australian team in the 1984 Grand Slam tour of Great Britain & Ireland. He also represented the Wallabies at the inaugural 1987 Rugby World Cup hosted by Australia & New Zealand. Rodriguez captained Australia against Mendoza Province in Argentina before retiring from international rugby in November 1987. He most recently played for Premiership Rugby side Bath and previously played for Gloucester, Sale Sharks and Wasps in the Premiership and Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby. Michael Lipman (born 16 January 1980, in London) is a retired English rugby union Flanker. Lipman played professionally in both the United Kingdom and Australia and has also played at International level for England. Early career in Australia Lipman was born in London but was brought up in New South Wales, Australia. He was schooled in Sydney at St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill.
