Walter Wilson was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Everton. Early career Walter Wilson was an Everton reserve player. He was not retained for season 1889-1890. League debut Walter Wilson made his League Debut on 30 March 1889 at Anfield, Liverpool against Blackburn Rovers. It was Everton' last match of the 1888-1889 season. Wilson was left-back, replacing Alec Dick. The match was originally scheduled for 5 January 1889 but the referee would not allow the match to start as the pitch was covered in ice. Bartley Wilson
Walter Bartley Wilson (3 January 1870 – 19 November 1954) was an English lithographic artist and the founder of Cardiff City Football Club. Born in Bristol, he moved to Cardiff in 1897 where he became involved with Riverside Cricket Club. Encouraged by the increasing popularity of football, he helped found Riverside A.F.C., the club that would eventually become Cardiff City F.C. Wilson was instrumental in the club moving from local amateur league to being a fully professional football club in 1910 by joining the Second Division of the Southern Football League. He also led the club's efforts to secure ground on which to build a home stadium, which went on to become Ninian Park, and was appointed manager in 1933 for a brief spell. Walter Wood Wilson (November 24, 1913 – April 17, 1994) was a professional baseball pitcher. He played one season in Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers in 1945. Listed at , 190 lb., Wilson batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He was born in Glenn, Georgia. Wilson began his professional career with the Concord Weavers of the Class D North Carolina State league in 1939. Wilson was one of many players who only appeared in the majors during World War II. He posted a 1–3 record with a 4.61 ERA in 25 appearances for Detroit, including four starts, giving up 40 runs (four unearned) on 76 hits and 35 walks while striking out 28 in 70.1 innings of work. Walter Wilson (1781?–1847) was an English biographer of nonconformist clergy and their churches. Life He was born about 1781, the illegitimate son of John Walter, the newspaper publisher. He was brought up a Presbyterian, and went to work at East India House as a clerk. In 1802 he went into journalism, and in 1806 he became a bookseller.P. N. Furbank and W. R. Walter Horatio Wilson (15 July 1839 – 28 February 1902) was a lawyer and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Council from 1885 until 1902. Early life Wilson was born at Rhosymedre near Ruabon, Denbighshire, Wales, and arrived in Victoria (Australia) in 1853. Walter Henry Wilson JP FICE FRINA (4 November 1839 – 14 May 1904) was an Irish ship designer and one of the founding partners of the firm Harland and Wolff. Early life He was the eldest son and heir of Alexander George Wilson (1797-1856) of Maryville House, Belfast, and Emily Lawrence Boyd. He was a descendant of the Wilsons of Croglin in Dumfriesshire. Following his education in Belfast, he pursued a career in naval architecture and engineering. Career Wilson became a gentleman apprentice in Robert Hickson's shipyard in 1857, which later became Harland and Wolff. In 1861, Wilson completed his apprenticeship and was given a position in the drawing office; he was appointed chief draughtsman in 1863. Major Walter Gordon Wilson (21 April 1874 – 1 July 1957) was an Irish mechanical engineer, inventor and member of the British Royal Naval Air Service. He was credited by the 1919 Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors as the co-inventor of the tank, along with Sir William Tritton.
