Walter Myers BSc, Master of Arts, MA, MB BChir, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, MRCS, Royal College of Physicians#Membership and fellowship, LRCP (28 March 1872 – 20 January 1901) was a British physician, toxicologist and parasitologist who died of yellow fever aged 28 while studying the disease in Brazil. Early life Walter Myers was born on 28 March 1872 in Edgbaston, the only son of George Myers (b.1841) and Flora Wertheimer (1851-1921) granddaughter of Chief Rabbi Akiba Israel Wertheimer, Akiba Wertheimer and niece of German philosopher Constantin Brunner. His older sister Violet Myers, Violet was a classical singer and younger sister Stella Churchill, Stella was a noted psychologist and psychotherapist. His firstborn nephew, Walter Churchill, Walter Myers Churchill (b.1907 d.1942), was named in his memory. Education Myers went to King Edward's High School, Birmingham, as a Foundation Scholar. Edgbaston, Birmingham
Edgbaston () is an affluent suburban area of central Birmingham, England, historically in Warwickshire, and curved around the southwest of the city centre. In the 19th century, the area was under the control of the Gough-Calthorpe family and the Gillott family who refused to allow factory, factories or warehouses to be built in Edgbaston, thus making it attractive for the wealthier residents of the city. It then came to be known as "where the trees begin". One of these private houses is grade one listed and open to the public. The majority of Edgbaston that falls under the B15 postcode finds itself being part of the Calthorpe Estate.
