Walter Jones (Virginia Politician)
Walter Jones (December 18, 1745December 31, 1815) was an 18th- and 19th-century politician and physician from Virginia. Biography Born in Williamsburg, Virginia, Williamsburg in the Colony of Virginia, Jones graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1760. He studied medicine in Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland and received a degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1770. He returned to Northumberland County, Virginia and became physician general of the Middle Military Department in 1777. Jones was a member of the Virginia Senate from 1785 to 1787 and was a delegate to the Virginia Ratifying Convention in 1788. He was elected a Democratic-Republican Party (United States), Democratic-Republican to the United States House of Representatives in 1796, serving from 1797 to 1799. He returned to the state Senate in 1802 and 1803 and was elected back to the House of Representatives again in 1802, serving from 1803 to 1811. Walter Jones (American Football)
Walter Jones Jr. (born January 19, 1974) is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. Born in Alabama, he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. Jones played his entire professional career with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a seven-time All-Pro selection and eventual NFL 2000s All-Decade Team honoree. Starting in each of his 180 games in Seattle, the Seahawks attempted more than 5,500 passes with Jones on the field, while Jones gave up a total of only 23 quarterback sacks, and was penalized for holding just nine times. On February 1, 2014, Jones was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Sir Walter Benton Jones, 2nd Baronet (26 September 1880 – 5 December 1967) succeeded to the Baronetcy on the death of his father in 1936. He was educated at Repton School and Trinity College, Cambridge. Walter Jennings Jones (April 28, 1865 – February 28, 1935) was an American biochemist and a professor at Johns Hopkins University who was among the early investigators of the composition of the nucleic acids including the presence of nucleotides, sugar and phosphate. He also noted the presence of thermostable enzymes that could break the nucleic acids by breaking the inter-nucleotide bonds. He published his results in the 1920 book ''Nucleic Acids: Their Chemical Properties and Physiological Conduct''. Walter Dally Jones (21 May 1855, Wandsworth – 20 September 1926) was a British soldier. He was assistant secretary to the Committee of Imperial Defence 1914–1919. Dally Jones was educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge before joining the Army in 1878. He served in the 99th (Lanarkshire) Regiment of Foot with postings in Natal, Bermuda and the East Indies. He was appointed Deputy-Assistant-Adjutant-General for Gibraltar 1891-8 before taking on the role of press censor for General Redvers Buller during the Boer War. Walter Jones (born February 14, 1942) is an American former professional basketball player. He was a 6'2" (1.88 m) 180 lb (82 kg) guard.
