Wainscott, Kent
Wainscott is a small village in Rochester, in Kent, England. It is in the civil parish of Frindsbury Extra, in the Medway Unitary Authority, that is Medway Council. By 1950 it had been absorbed into the neighbouring residential areas of Strood. Wainscott itself is located immediately next to Frindsbury, and is surrounded by agricultural land and ancient woodlands. Wainscott, New York
Wainscott is a census-designated place (CDP) that roughly corresponds to the hamlet with the same name in the Town of East Hampton in Suffolk County, New York, United States, on the South Fork of Long Island. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP population was 650. The CDP was created for the 2000 census. Background and history The hamlet was named after Wainscott, Kent, a village north of Maidstone, England, an area immortalized in Charles Dickens' ''Great Expectations'' and from which most of the early settlers of East Hampton came. The Wainscott School, founded in 1730, was the last public one-room schoolhouse operating in New York until an annex was built in 2008. Wainscott faces the Atlantic Ocean to the south. On its west is the village of Sagaponack, and on the east is the village of East Hampton. Ale-8-One, known colloquially as Ale-8, is a regional ginger- and citrus-flavored soft drink, distributed primarily to brick and mortar retailers in Kentucky. Ale-8 could be described as a ginger Soda with a "kick". It is a ginger and citrus blend, containing less carbonation and fewer calories than conventional soda. It is bottled by the Ale-8-One Bottling Company in Winchester, Kentucky. History The formula for Ale-8-One was developed by soda bottler G. L. Wainscott in the 1920s.Walton, p. 11 Wainscott, who had been in the soda business in Winchester, Kentucky since 1902, had developed Roxa-Kola, his previous flagship product, in 1906. Tina Wainscott (born Tina Ritter) is an American author of suspense novels and category romance novels. Biography Tina Wainscott was born in Naples, Florida. She was graduated from Lely High School in Naples in 1983 and studied business at Edison College. While attending college she often found herself daydreaming about stories, and eventually left school to devote herself to writing short stories. To enhance her skills, Wainscott attended night classes in creative writing. The creative writing classes helped Wainscott to become more focused, as she was expected to deliver new material in each session. Her third attempt at writing a novel won a prize in a Romance Writers of America competition in 1993, helping her to gain an agent. The manuscript, ''On the Way to Heaven'', sold the following and was published in 1995.
