WXMS-LP
WXMS-LP, UHF analog channel 27, was a low-powered MeTV- affiliated television station licensed to Jackson, Mississippi, United States. The station was by American Spirit Media, making it a sister station to Fox affiliate WDBD, and operated by Raycom Media, then-owner of NBC affiliate WLBT. History WXMS launched on December 13, 1999, on cable as a primary affiliate of the WB and secondary affiliate of UPN. Previously, cable viewers were able to see WB programming via Chicago's WGN-TV, which had dropped WB programming from its national superstation feed several months earlier. WXMS launched a low power signal on channel 27 on July 2, 2000. On October 7, 2001, WXMS became a primary UPN affiliate after ceding its WB affiliation to sister station WDBD, which had defected from the Fox network. WBMS-CA, VHF analog channel 10, was a low-powered, Class A MeTV- affiliated television station licensed to Jackson, Mississippi, United States. History WBMS began broadcasting on November 30, 1987, as W10BD, as an independent station. It was owned by Louisiana state senator Louis "Woody" Jenkins and his company Great Oaks Broadcasting. Jenkins owned two stations in Baton Rouge− WBTR (channel 36) and WTNC (channel 21). On December 6, 1993, the station affiliated with America's Voice. The following year, he sold the station to Metrovision, a startup cable company, who changed the call sign to WMVT-LP in 1995. In 1997, the station's call sign was changed to WBMS-LP (later WBMS-CA), and joined the UPN network, with America One a secondary affiliation. It is owned by American Spirit Media, which maintains a shared services agreement (SSA) with Gray Television, owner of NBC affiliate WLBT (channel 3), for the provision of certain services; it is also sister to Vicksburg-licensed MyNetworkTV outlet WLOO (channel 35). American Spirit Media, LLC is a broadcasting company based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Founded by Thomas B. Henson in 2003 as Ottumwa Media Holdings, it owns television stations in several cities in the Southeastern United States. History In 2003, Raycom Media acquired the Waitt Media stations (that included KYOU-TV in the Ottumwa, Iowa DMA). WRBJ-TV (channel 34) is a religious television station licensed to Magee, Mississippi, United States, serving the Jackson, Hattiesburg and Meridian television markets as an owned-and-operated station of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). The station's transmitter is located near Raleigh, Mississippi, in the Bienville National Forest. History WRBJ began broadcasting as a UPN affiliate via Time Warner Cable on January 5, 2006, and over-the-air broadcasting began on February 8.
