West Virginia Route 14 is a north–south state highway in the western portion of the U.S. state of West Virginia. The southern terminus of the route is at U.S. Route 33 in Spencer, Roane County. The northern terminus is at Interstate 77 exit 185 and West Virginia Route 31 on the southern outskirts of Williamstown, Wood County. The portion of the road from Williamstown to Mineral Wells in Wood County was part of U.S. Route 21 until US 21 was decommissioned statewide in 1974. U.S. Route 21 or U.S. Highway 21 (US 21) is a major north–south United States Numbered Highway in the Southeastern United States that travels . The southern terminus is in Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina, south of the junction with US 21 Business and South Carolina Highway 802 (SC 802) in Beaufort. The northern terminus is in Wytheville, Virginia at an interchange with Interstate 81 (I-81) and US 52. Despite the "1" indicating that it is a major north-south highway, U.S. 21 only travels through three states, and is no longer a cross-country route as it has been replaced with Interstate 77 in both Ohio and West Virginia. MOV Regional Airport
Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport is seven miles northeast of Parkersburg, in Wood County, West Virginia. It is owned by the Wood County Airport Authority and is also known as Wood County Airport or Gill Robb Wilson Field. Williamstown Bridge
The Williamstown Bridge is a bridge over the Ohio River between Williamstown, West Virginia, and Marietta, Ohio. The bridge carries West Virginia Route 31 and Ohio State Route 60. U.S. Route 21 was also formerly routed along this bridge. Original bridge The original bridge at this site was constructed in 1903. It was the first inland cantilever highway bridge in the United States and also site of the first strike, in 1902, by the United Steel Workers union. Current bridge The current Williamstown Bridge was completed in 1992. It reuses some of the piers from the prior bridge, although the Marietta approaches were relocated to a new connection with Ohio State Route 7. Belpre (historically spelled Belpré; pronounced ) is a city in Washington County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Its name derives from "Belle Prairie" (French for "beautiful meadow"), the name given to the valley by French trappers prior to the first American settlement at the site. Part of the Parkersburg-Marietta-Vienna, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area, the city is located about 14 miles (22 km) downriver from Marietta. The bridge is an alternate route to access U.S. Route 50 in Ohio from central Parkersburg. While some internal WVDOT documents refer to the bridge as West Virginia Route 140, the number is not signed nor shown on state-issued maps. The bridge was completed , and is of a steel through truss design, a combination of two camelback-Warren through trusses, and a 3-span cantilevered Warren through truss. It accommodates two lanes of traffic, one in either direction. This bridge has a toll for passenger cars of $0.50; travelers may also purchase tickets to reduce the toll from $0.50 to $0.40 per trip when $2.00 worth are purchased.
