WFVX-LD (channel 22) is a low-power television station in Bangor, Maine, United States, affiliated with Fox and MyNetworkTV. It is owned by Rockfleet Broadcasting alongside ABC affiliate WVII-TV (channel 7). Both stations share studios on Target Industrial Circle in West Bangor, while WFVX-LD's transmitter is located on Black Cap Mountain along the Penobscot and Hancock county line. Although identifying as a station in its own right, WFVX-LD is officially licensed as a translator of WVII-TV. In addition to its own digital signal, WFVX-LD is simulcast in high definition on WVII-TV's second digital subchannel (virtual and VHF channel 7.2) from a separate transmitter on Black Cap Mountain. A fourth station in Cadillac, Michigan (within the Traverse City market) is no longer under Rockfleet ownership. On May 10, 2007, it was announced that Rockfleet Broadcasting was planning to sell Fox affiliate WFQX-TV/WFUP to Cadillac Telecasting. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved the sale in late-October. After this approval, Cadillac entered into a shared services agreement (SSA) with Heritage Broadcasting Group (owner of CBS affiliate WWTV). At that point, WFQX/WFUP began to be operated by WWTV. Bangor ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Maine and the county seat of Penobscot County. WNSW (Maine)
WNSW was a radio station on 1200 AM in Brewer, Maine, operating between September 20, 1947, and October 24, 1995. History The Portland Broadcasting System, Inc., received the construction permit to build a new radio station at 1450 kHz in Bangor on January 31, 1947. The call letters WGPG were soon ditched for WGUY, representing Guy Gannett, the original owner. The station went on the air on September 20, broadcasting with 250 watts, and affiliated with CBS on August 1, 1949, matching sister station WGAN in Portland and leaving behind its initial hookup with ABC. WGUY's short-lived FM counterpart, WGUY-FM 93.1, was the first FM station in Maine. After WGUY moved to 1230 kHz in 1950, Murray Carpenter acquired WGUY in 1954.
