WUWM
WUWM (89.7 FM, "Milwaukee's NPR") is the flagship National Public Radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and licensed to the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System. A unit of the UW-Milwaukee College of Letters and Science, the station transmits from the WITI TV Tower in Shorewood, and is based on the seventh floor of Chase Tower in downtown Milwaukee, moving there from facilities in the nearby Shops of Grand Avenue in mid-January 2010. WUWM airs programming from NPR, Public Radio International, American Public Media, and also airs BBC World Service in the overnight hours, with much of the weekend entertainment programming scheduled purposefully to avoid duplication with Wisconsin Public Radio's WHAD (90.7). Bob Reitman
Robert "Bob" Reitman (born December 1941 ) is an FM radio personality (disc jockey, or deejay) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Reitman was a pioneer in freeform radio, also known as "underground radio", and has been playing album-oriented rock music and providing on-air commentary for over 45 years at various radio stations in the Milwaukee market. He is currently semi-retired, but continues to host a show once a week on WUWM, the Milwaukee Public Radio station where he got his start. His primary inspiration is Bob Dylan. Early days Reitman, son of an FBI agent, was born in Enid, Oklahoma and raised in the Milwaukee area village of Whitefish Bay. He received an English degree from Marquette University and a graduate degree in Urban Education from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM). WITI TV Tower
The WITI TV Tower is a lattice communications tower located in Shorewood, Wisconsin, which transmits the signal of several television and radio stations in the Milwaukee area, including its namesake, Fox owned-and-operated station WITI (channel 6), along with cellular and wireless communications. The structure is owned by WITI's parent company, Fox Television Stations. The tower built in 1962 was for many years the tallest free-standing tower in the United States until the Stratosphere Tower was built in 1996. It remains the tallest lattice tower in the country and the tallest 3-side lattice tower in the world. Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) is a network of 34 public radio stations in the state of Wisconsin. WPR's network is divided into two distinct analog services, the ''Ideas Network'' and the ''NPR News & Music Network,'' as well as the ''All Classical Network'', a digital-only, full-time classical music service. WHAD
WHAD (90.7 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Delafield, Wisconsin and serving the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Part of Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR), it airs WPR's "Ideas Network", consisting of news and talk programming. Like the Milwaukee area's other NPR station, WUWM (licensed to Milwaukee proper), the station airs BBC World Service in the overnight hours. WHAD maintains a local news staff and cut-ins outside the main WPR network, and the station's facilities, located on the seventh floor of 310 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee (by coincidence, also hosting the studios of commercial sports radio station WAUK), originate some programming for the network, including Kathleen Dunn's afternoon program until her retirement in the summer of 2017. Chase Tower (Milwaukee)
The Chase Tower is a 22-story, high-rise building in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Built in the International style, the building has a very dark green, almost black, facade. It is located alongside the Milwaukee River, at the corner of East Wisconsin Avenue and North Water Street. The Chase Tower includes of office space and a 746-space parking structure. The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UW–Milwaukee, UWM, or Milwaukee) is a public urban research university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
