WUCT (1600 AM, "NewsTalk 94.1") is a radio station licensed to Algood, Tennessee, United States, the station serves the Cookeville area. The station is currently owned by Jwc Broadcasting. History The station went on the air as WRZK on June 22, 1981. On June 1, 1983, the station changed its call sign to WWRT, and on January 15, 1990 to WATX. WATX originally broadcast on 1590 kilohertz, and later moved to 1600. The station subsequently added a translator on 100.9 FM, known as W265BC (WATX-FM unofficially). In January 2017, WATX rebranded as "NewsTalk 94.1" (switching translators to W231DG 94.1 FM Cookeville). On January 1, 2017, WATX changed call letters to WUCT.WATX Relaunches as "News Talk 94.1" WUCT

Cookeville is the county seat and largest city of Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. As of the 2020 United States census, its population was reported to be 34,842. It is recognized as one of the country's micropolitan areas, or smaller cities which function as significant regional economic hubs. Algood, Tennessee
Algood is a city in Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,963 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Cookeville Micropolitan Statistical Area. History While Algood was not established until the late 19th century, in the early 19th century a small community developed just south of modern Algood at White Plains, an antebellum plantation and important stopover along the Walton Road (which connected Nashville and Knoxville). In the 1880s, the Nashville & Knoxville Railroad erected a depot at what is now Algood. The land on which the depot was built was purchased from a circuit rider and early settler named Joel Algood, and thus the train stop was named after him. For a period of time the area would be called Algood's Old Fields. Nielsen Audio (formerly Arbitron) is a consumer research company in the United States that collects listener data on radio broadcasting audiences.
