WUBB (106.9 FM) is a country music formatted radio station targeted towards Savannah and Hilton Head known as "Bob 106.9". At one time the station was on 104.9, which did not provide as strong a signal. History In December, 1987, WIJY signed on 107.9 FM as what was then known as the in vogue New Adult Contemporary, or smooth jazz. In 1996, WIJY was moved to 106.9 as "Joy 106.9". In 1998, the station changed its callsign to WWVV-FM and became Modern AC as "Wave 106.9 - Your Hit Music Station" and then flipped to modern rock as "Wave 106.9 - Savannah's New Rock Alternative" in December 2000. Also in 2000, Triad Broadcasting purchased all Adventure Radio stations. The station flipped again in 2002 to Hot AC as "Wave 106.9 - The New Music Alternative" before flipping to Adult Album Alternative (as "Modern Music - Wave 106.9") in 2003; that same year, 104.9 and 106.9 switched formats. WFXH-FM (106.1 MHz), known as "Rock 106.1", is an active rock radio station targeted to Savannah, Georgia. The station was a monitored reporter on the Alternative (Modern Rock) panel. Formerly, WFXH reported as an Alternative station to Arbitron and various radio industry publications. The station featured a specialty show called ''Underexposed'', Sunday nights, 9-11 pm. During the show they spotlight indie rock artists like The Decemberists, The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Arcade Fire, and Cold War Kids, along with local acts. That show has apparently been cancelled, its presence excised from the station's website. In April 2008, WFXH debuted ''You Heard It First'', a new show heard weeknights at 11 pm that features only new rock, as part of what the station calls "New Rock Nights". WRWN (107.9 FM, "Rewind 107.9") is a classic hits radio station licensed to Port Royal, South Carolina and owned by Dick Broadcasting. History The station signed on at 107.1 FM. In June 1988, WLOW began playing nostalgia/big band on 106.9 FM, one of the few FM stations to play this style of music. For much of 1994 the station became the home of local talk station WHHR-FM "The News and Conversation Station". The station was costly to operate and a strong opposition was formed against the loss of the nostalgia format, which had found a home on 99.7 FM. WLOW returned to standards in December, 1994. In 1995, Adventure Radio purchased the station and upgraded it to a class C1 station. WLOW traded frequencies with WIJY at 107.9. WLHH (104.9 The Surf - Hilton Head's Greatest Hits) is a classic hits radio station licensed to Ridgeland, South Carolina, with studios in Hilton Head and transmitter located between Ridgeland and Beaufort. History 104.9 was assigned as a construction permit to Mattox-Guest Broadcasting with the WXRY-FM calls in 1985. The station signed on in 1988 as WZBZ, then to an oldies station in 1990 as WSHG, "Shag FM". In 1997, Shag FM moved its format to what was then WHBZ (now WXST) and became the original home of WGZR "The Gator", a country music station. WHHW (1130 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican radio format. It is licensed to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The station is currently owned by Alpha Media, and operated by Dick Broadcasting under a local marketing agreement. WHHW broadcasts at 1,000 watts by day. But because AM 1130 is a clear channel frequency, it must reduce power to 500 watts at night to avoid interference. WHHW simulcasts its programming on an FM translator, W241CV at 96.1 MHz, broadcasting at a power level of 99 watts. WXYY (100.1 FM), known as G100.1, is a radio station broadcasting a classic hip hop format. Licensed to Rincon, Georgia, US, the station serves the Savannah and Hilton Head areas. The station is owned by Alpha Media and operated by Dick Broadcasting under a local marketing agreement. The studios and offices are on the south side of Savannah and the transmitter is in Rincon. History The station went on the air as WMZD on May 10, 2004. On March 9, 2006, the station changed its call sign to WSGA, on March 16, 2006, to WSSJ, and on March 6, 2014, to WXYY. The station switched from a New AC (NAC)/Smooth Jazz format to Gospel music on March 19, 2008, with the name "Joy 100.1." In March 2014, after L & L Broadcasting bought the 50,000-watt station, WXYY moved its call letters and Hot AC format from 107.9 FM, which had a 24,000-watt signal. ''My Kinda Party'' is the fourth studio album released by American country music artist Jason Aldean. It was released on November 2, 2010 by Broken Bow Records. The songs were written by various songwriters including Neil Thrasher, Brantley Gilbert and Michael Dulaney. Aldean said that he chose the name of the album because he thought it was representative of "what my fans have come to expect." He also said that it has a unique sound because he recorded it with his touring band and an engineer who does not work with any other artists. On November 30, 2011, the album received a nomination for the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Country Album.
