WSUF (89.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to Noyack, New York and serves the eastern Long Island and southeastern Connecticut areas. It is owned by Sacred Heart University. It broadcasts a news/talk radio and classical music format that includes programming from NPR, Public Radio International, and American Public Media. For most of the time, it acts as a full satellite of WSHU, though on Sunday mornings and afternoons it simulcasts WSHU-FM's classical programming. The station was assigned the WSUF call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on October 1, 1993. WSHU (AM)
WSHU (1260 AM), is an NPR member radio station licensed to Westport, Connecticut. It is owned and operated by Sacred Heart University. By day, WSHU is powered at 1,000 watts using a directional antenna. However, at night, to avoid interference with other stations on 1260 AM, it reduces power to nine watts. Programming is also heard on 150-watt FM translator W276DY at 103.1 MHz in Westport. WSHU primarily features news, talk and informational programming from National Public Radio with local news updates throughout the day. It holds periodic fundraisers on the air to support the running of the station. Noyack, New York
Noyack (also Noyac) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The CDP population was 4,325 at the 2020 census. ''Noyac'' is an Algonquin word meaning "a corner or point of land". It is believed that it refers to Jessup Neck, granted to John Jessup in 1679. Noyac is located on the South Fork of Long Island in the Town of Southampton. The community is at the edge of Noyac Bay. The William Cauldwell House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Geography Noyac is located at (40.991160, -72.334417). All-news radio is a radio format devoted entirely to the discussion and broadcast of news. All-news radio is available in both local and syndicated forms, and is carried on both major US satellite radio networks. All-news stations can run the gamut from simulcasting an all-news television station like CNN, to a "rip and read" headline service, to stations that include live coverage of news events and long-form public affairs programming.
