WSPC (1010 AM broadcasting, AM) is a commercial radio, commercial radio station in Albemarle, North Carolina. It broadcasts a talk radio radio format, format and is owned by Stanly Communications. Albemarle () is a small city and the county seat of Stanly County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 15,903 in the 2010 Census. Gerald R. "Ronnie" Michael (a former police chief in the city) serves as Mayor and Albemarle has a seven-member City Council elected in a combination of at-large and district seats. Albemarle has operated under the Council-Manager form of government since 1962. WZKY (1580 AM, "Magic 103.3 FM") is a radio station licensed to serve Albemarle, North Carolina, United States. The station is owned by Stanly Communications and broadcasts an oldies music format that at one time included programming from the Classic Hits network by ABC Radio. WZKY is where Bob Harris, "Voice of the Blue Devils", got his start in the radio business. History On September 4, 1955, Stanly County Broadcasting Company applied to the Federal Communications Commission for a construction permit for a new 250-watt daytime-only AM station on 1580 kHz. The FCC granted the permit on February 29, 1956, by which time the station had been assigned the WZKY call sign. The station's first license was granted on September 6, 1956. The Tar Heel Sports Network is a radio network in the United States dedicated to broadcasting live events and programming relating to North Carolina Tar Heels athletics. It is operated by Tar Heel Sports Properties, a property of Learfield IMG College, which manages the multimedia rights for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Network's flagship station is WPTF in Raleigh, North Carolina. The network began in the early 1960s when WSOC in Charlotte made the first attempt to create a radio network for Tar Heel men's basketball outside the Triangle. George Noory
George Ralph Noory (born June 4, 1950) is an American radio talk show host. Since January 2003, Noory has been the weekday host of the late-night radio talk show ''Coast to Coast AM''. The program is syndicated to hundreds of radio stations in the U.S. and Canada by Premiere Networks. Noory has also appeared in the History Channel series ''Ancient Aliens'' and in ''Beyond Belief'', a subscription-based online video series presented by gaia.com.
