WCXT (98.3 FM, "The Coast") is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format, serving the southwestern Michigan area. WCXT is licensed to Hartford, Michigan and focuses on the cities of St. Joseph, Benton Harbor and South Haven. The station broadcasts in HD on 98.3-HD1 and is owned by Mid-West Family Broadcasting (WSJM, Inc.) It was announced on January 7, 2008 that the station would move from the 94.9 FM frequency to 98.3 FM, which had previously been the home of WCSY-FM and briefly WSJM-FM. WQYQ (1400 AM) is a radio station broadcasting an alternative rock format. Licensed to St. Joseph, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1956 as WSJM. Programming is simulcast on a local translator on 106.1 FM (W291DK). Through the late 1980s and early 1990s, WSJM was a Full-Service Adult Contemporary radio station, with a mixture of pop and oldies music, local personalities, network and local newscasts, evening talk programming (Bruce Williams and Larry King) and play-by-play sports. Benton Harbor is a city in Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is 46 miles southwest of Kalamazoo and 71 miles southwest of Grand Rapids. In electrical control engineering, a stepping switch or stepping relay, also known as a uniselector, is an electromechanical device that switches an input signal path to one of several possible output paths, directed by a train of electrical pulses. The major use of stepping switches was in early automatic telephone exchanges to route telephone calls. Later, they were often used in industrial control systems. WQLQ (99.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to Benton Harbor, Michigan targeting the South Bend, Indiana market. WQLQ is owned by Mid-West Family Broadcasting. Its signal is regularly heard as far as Chicago, Illinois, and as far east as Battle Creek, Michigan As of June 2011, the station has re-imaged from Cat Country 99-9 to Real Country 99-Nine.
