WRMM-FM
WRMM-FM (101.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve Rochester, New York, United States. The station is owned by Stephens Media Group. Its studios are located at the First Federal Plaza building in downtown Rochester, and its transmitter site is in Rochester's west side. WRMM broadcasts an adult contemporary music format and during November and December broadcasts Christmas music. History Historically, the station was the sister station to AM 680/990, now WDCX. Then-WRNY signed on an FM signal at 97.7 in the early 1950s but shut it down in 1955. Twelve years later, the same station, now known as WNYR, signed a new FM signal at its current location, at which it has broadcast ever since. Prior to 1988, WRMM was known as WEZO and had an Easy Listening (Bonneville) format. AM 990 and WRMM were separated in 1996; WRMM was sold to CBS Radio and AM 990 to a religious broadcaster. First Federal Plaza
First Federal Plaza is a high-rise building located in Rochester, New York. It is the fifth tallest building in Rochester, standing at with 21 floors. It was completed in 1975. The building is known for its circular top, which used to be a revolving restaurant called Changing Scene. That closed in 1990 and the rotating mechanism was dismantled. The space was rented out by local Rochester attorney Christina Agola until she was disbarred over allegations of deceitful conduct. The building is located at 28 East Main Street The building is also home to the studios for the Stephens Media Group radio stations in Rochester. (WFKL, WZNE, and WRMM-FM). In addition to the studios, WZNE and WRMM-FM both maintain an auxiliary (backup) transmitter facility on the top of the building. Stephens Media Group is an Oklahoma based radio broadcaster that owns 75 radio stations particularly in small to mid-size markets. Its flagship stations are at its headquarters in Tulsa. Stephens refers to itself as "A portfolio of People", referencing the team members who work for the company. History Stephens Media started with stations around Tulsa, Oklahoma, before expanding to small markets outside of there. On May 1, 2008, Stephens Media announced that it would acquire WFKL, WRMM-FM, and WZNE in Rochester, New York, as a part of Entercom's purchase of stations from CBS Radio in the market. In April 2018, Ingstad Radio sold 14 of its stations in Washington to Stephens Media Group. In July 2019, it was announced that the company would acquire 37 stations from Mapleton Communications. WZNE (94.1 FM) – branded 94.1 The Zone – is a commercial alternative rock radio station licensed to Brighton, New York, serving the Rochester metro area. WZNE is owned by the Stephens Media Group, and serves as the local affiliate for The Jubal Show. Its studios are located in Rochester and its transmitter is located on Pinnacle Hill in Brighton. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WZNE broadcasts over two HD Radio channels, and is available online, but not on the Western half of Monroe County. WFKL (93.3 MHz) is an FM radio station licensed to Fairport, New York, and serving the Rochester metropolitan area. The station, branded as "Fickle 93.3", broadcasts an adult hits radio format, or what the station refers to as "We Play Everything," similar to Jack FM. It is and owned by Stephens Media Group which also owns WRMM and WZNE. The studios are in the First Federal Plaza building in downtown Rochester. WDCX (990 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Rochester, New York. The station airs a brokered religious radio format. WDCX's license is held by Kimtron, Inc. which is owned by Crawford Broadcasting. WDCX was a sister station to 102.7 WLGZ-FM (which previously occupied the AM 990 frequency). WDCX and former sister station WLGZ studios and offices are on Browncroft Boulevard in Rochester. The transmitter is off Clarkson Parma Townline Road in Brockport, New York.
