WOGA
The World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) is a two-facility gymnastics club located in Frisco and Plano. The head coaches at WOGA are former USA Gymnastics women's national team coordinator Valeri Liukin, who was a Soviet medalist at the 1988 Olympic Games, and Yevgeny Marchenko who coached gold medalist Carly Patterson. Some of the notable past elites are Elizabeth "Lizzy" LeDuc, Katelyn Ohashi, Grace McLaughlin, Briley Casanova, Ivana Hong, Rebecca Bross, World Champions Hollie Vise and Alyssa Baumann, as well as Olympic Champions Carly Patterson, Nastia Liukin and Madison Kocian. Madison Kocian
Madison Taylor Kocian (born June 15, 1997) is a retired American artistic gymnast. On the uneven bars, she is one of four 2015 world champions and the 2016 Olympic silver medalist. She was part of the gold medal-winning team dubbed the " Final Five" at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and was a member of the first-place American teams at the 2014 and 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2020, where she was a member of its NCAA women's gymnastics team. Personal life Kocian was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her parents, Thomas and Cindy Kocian, put her in gymnastics at a young age. Alyssa Baumann
Alyssa Lyn Baumann (born May 17, 1998) is a retired American artistic gymnast, and has competed for the United States at international events as well as for University of Florida team. Baumann is the 2014 and 2015 United States silver medalist on the balance beam. She was a member of the 2014 World Championship team that won gold. Career Senior International Elite 2014 In her first year at senior level (age 16 and above), Baumann represented the United States at the 2014 City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy. Baumann placed first in the team competition and second on the balance beam. At the 2014 P&G National Championships, she placed fourth in the all-around. Rebecca Bross
Rebecca Marie Bross (born July 11, 1993) is an American former artistic gymnast and six-time World Championship medalist. Personal life Rebecca Marie Bross is the daughter of Terry Bross and Donna Bross. She has one older brother named Benjamin. She married Billy Burks December 17, 2022. Her parents put her in a gymnastics class at the age of five. She was coached by Valeri Liukin at WOGA Gymnastics in Plano, Texas. Career Rebecca Bross first qualified to Junior International Elite in 2005, when she also qualified to her first U.S. Nationals. She placed 16th all-around and earned a spot on the national team. Laurie Hernandez
Lauren Zoe Hernandez (born June 9, 2000) is an American artistic gymnast. During her debut year as a senior gymnast, she competed as a member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team dubbed the " Final Five" at the 2016 Summer Olympics; Ultimately, the U.S. won gold in the team event. In the individual events, Hernandez earned the silver medal on the balance beam. Ivana Hong
Ivana Hong (born December 11, 1992 in Worcester, Massachusetts) is an American former artistic gymnast. She was a member of the gold medal American team at the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the all-around bronze medalist at the 2007 Pan American Games. Hong was named an alternate to the 2008 U.S. Olympic team and was a member of the U.S. Women's Team in the 2009 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in London. Hong is of Chinese and Vietnamese ancestry. Hong lived in Blue Springs, Missouri, and trained at Great American Gymnastics Express (GAGE) for four years. Anastasia "Nastia" Liukin (; russian: Анастасия Валерьевна Люкина ; born October 30, 1989) is a Russian-born American former artistic gymnast. She is the 2008 Olympic All-Around champion, a five-time Olympic medalist, the 2005 and 2007 world champion on the balance beam, and the 2005 world champion on the uneven bars. She is also a four-time all-around U.S. national champion, winning twice as a junior and twice as a senior. Hollie Vise
Hollie Diane Vise (born December 6, 1987) is an American former Artistic gymnastics, artistic gymnast. A two-time world champion, Vise went on to compete for the University of Oklahoma. Early life and training Born in Dallas, Texas, Vise is not the only athlete in her family. Her brothers are active in many different sports and Vise's mother was also a gymnast when she was younger. Her grandfather, the character actor Burton Gilliam, was a Golden Gloves boxer who won more than 200 bouts before turning to acting. Valeri Liukin
Valeri Viktorovich Liukin (russian: Валерий Викторович Люкин; born 17 December 1966 in Aktyubinsk, Kazakh SSR, Soviet Union) is a Soviet-born Russian-American retired artistic gymnast turned gymnastics coach. As a competitor for the former Soviet Union, Liukin was the 1988 Olympic champion in the team competition and individually on the horizontal bar, and Olympic silver medalist in the all-around and the parallel bars. Liukin was the first man to do a triple back flip on floor and both a layout Tkatchev and a Jaeger with full twist on high bar. He also has one of the most difficult skills in men's artistic gymnastics named after him, the triple back (tucked) somersault. Yevgeny Marchenko (gymnast)
Yevgeny Marchenko (born 24 February 1964) is a Latvian-American artistic gymnastics coach, known for being the personal coach to Carly Patterson, who was the 2004 Olympic All-Around champion. He is of Russian descent. Early years Marchenko was born in Latvia and competed in sports acrobatics gymnastics. During his career, he garnered five World champion titles, four European champion titles, and the Soviet national title. Coaching career Marchenko and close lifelong friend, Valeri Liukin, moved to the United States following their retirements from Gymnastics. They had the intent of opening their own gym in New Orleans, Louisiana until a chance visit from a friend who wanted to see them in Plano, Texas. Madeline Gardiner
Madeline Gardiner (born January 27, 1995) is a Canadians, Canadian retired artistic gymnastics, artistic gymnast and an alternate for the 2012 Summer Olympics team. Junior career 2010 In April, Gardiner competed at the Pacific Rim Championships in Melbourne, Australia. She placed fourth in the all around competition with a score of 53.400 which also helped the Canadian team to place fourth.
