WLAW (AM)
WLAW (1490 AM) is a radio station licensed to Whitehall, Michigan. The station broadcasts at 1490 kHz, simulcasting sister station WLAW-FM, and is owned by Cumulus Media. As WUBR ("The Bear"), the station played adult standards. Later, the format changed to sports, carrying ESPN Radio. In December 2005, the station switched to a talk format, but returned to sports in simulcast with WJRW following the January 2019 discontinuation of WBBL-FM's sports format. WLAW-FM
WLAW-FM (97.5 MHz, "97.5 Nash Icon") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Whitehall, Michigan, the station serves the Muskegon, Michigan market. The station's programming was derived from Cumulus Media Networks' Hits & Favorites format until Westwood One took over. It is heard as far as Grand Rapids, Michigan, east of US-131, and it experiences interference from WJIM-FM from Lansing. It is now affiliated with Westwood One's country program. History The station began broadcasting in 1991 as WPBK-FM with a satellite-fed country format from Unistar Radio Networks, and became WEFG-FM ("Frog") soon afterward. In 1995, WEFG-FM's format changed to a 1970s-based classic hits format (as ''Eagle 97.5'') satellite-fed from Westwood One. ESPN Radio, which is alternately platform-agnostically branded as ESPN Audio, is an American sports radio network and extension of the ESPN television network. It was launched on January 1, 1992, under the original banner of "SportsRadio ESPN". The network is based out of the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut, with multiple studio facilities nationwide, along with home studios. The network airs a regular schedule of daily and weekly programming as well as live radio play-by-play of sporting events. Muskegon County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of 2020, the population was 175,824. The county seat is Muskegon. Muskegon County comprises the Muskegon, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the larger Grand Rapids- Kentwood-Muskegon, MI Combined Statistical Area. WTNR (107.3 FM, "Thunder 107.3") is a radio station licensed to Greenville, Michigan. Owned by Cumulus Media, the station broadcasts a country music format targeting Grand Rapids. History The station was first assigned the call sign WPLB-FM in 1962 and was originally licensed to Greenville, Michigan. It was sister station to WPLB (AM) (1060 and later 1380). The station became oldies-formatted on November 15, 1989 and the call sign was changed to WODJ. WJRW (1340 AM) – branded as The Ticket – is a commercial sports radio station licensed to Grand Rapids, Michigan, serving the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. Owned by Cumulus Media, WJRW is the Grand Rapids affiliate for CBS Sports Radio and Sean Baligian. The WJRW studios and transmitter both reside in Grand Rapids. Whitehall, Michigan
Whitehall is a city in Muskegon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,706 at the 2010 census. The city is located in the southwest corner of Whitehall Township. Montague is its neighbor. It is located on White Lake (actually the mouth of the White River). Whitehall's recorded history began ''circa'' 1859 when Charles Mears, a noted lumber baron to the area, platted the village along with Giles B. Slocum, naming it Mears. The population continued to grow due to its strategic location for floating and distributing lumber. In 1862, it was renamed Whitehall and incorporated as the Village of Whitehall in 1867.
