WGN Sports
WGN Sports (originally known as WGN-TV Sports from 1948 to 1993) was the programming division of WGN-TV (channel 9), an independent television station located in Chicago, Illinois, United States—which is owned by the Nexstar Media Group—that was responsible for all sports broadcasts on the station, some of which were previously also broadcast on its former national superstation feed, WGN America (now news and entertainment channel NewsNation). At various points between the station's founding in 1948 until 2019, WGN Sports produced telecasts from several of Chicago's major professional sports teams, most notably the Chicago Cubs (MLB), Chicago White Sox (MLB), Chicago Bulls (NBA) and Chicago Blackhawks (NHL). WGN-TV (channel 9) is an Independent station (North America), independent television station in Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, United States. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, it is sister station, sister to the company's sole radio property, talk radio, news/talk/sports radio, sports station WGN (AM), WGN (720 AM). WGN-TV's studios are located on West Bradley Place in Chicago's North Center, Chicago, North Center community; as such, it is the only major commercial television station in Chicago which bases its main studio outside Chicago Loop, the Loop. The 2019–20 Chicago Bulls season was the 54th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The season was suspended by the league officials following the games of March 11 after it was reported that Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.
