WFGS (103.7 FM, "Froggy 103.7") is a radio station located in Murray, Kentucky licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and owned by Forever Communications. The station airs a country music format. Froggy 103.7 is one of the most listened to radio stations in Western Kentucky and Northwest Tennessee for country music. History The station went on the air as WAAW in 1977, owned by Murray Broadcasting Company. Its format was album oriented rock. In 1988, the station was sold to Jackson Purchase Broadcasting, which changed the call to WBLN ("The Blend") and made the format adult contemporary. After being sold to Forever Communications, 103.7 became a country station with the call sign WFGE on 1997-03-17. In July 2008, the owner elected to move the Murray station's call sign to another station with the Froggy branding based in Pennsylvania. The old WFGE then became WFGS. WBZB
WBZB (1130 AM broadcasting, AM) is a daytime only radio station broadcasting a contemporary hit radio, top 40/CHR format, licensed to Murray, Kentucky. The station is currently owned by Forever Communications, Inc. and features programming from ESPN Radio. In addition to games and commentary of national interest, WBZB featured the area's only local sports show hosted by prominent local athlete and play-by-play man for the Murray High Tigers, Travis Turner. Local sports updates were given daily from Neal Bradley, and are given as "Brought to you by Froggyland Sports". Local programs 1130 WBZB The Office boasted the only live and local sports talk show in Western Kentucky. WNBS
WNBS (1340 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a News Talk Information format. Licensed to Murray, Kentucky, United States. The station is currently owned by Forever Communications, Inc. and features programming from CBS News Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and Westwood One. History WNBS signed on in July 1948. It is named for Nathan B. Stubblefield, a Murray resident who was a pioneer in early experiments with wireless voice transmissions. In 1957, the station was purchased by C.H. Pulse and Chuck Shuffett of Lebanon. In the late 1950s or 1960s, the station was knocked off the air by an airplane that crashed into the transmission tower in heavy fog. In 1991, Shuffett sold both WNBS and W46BE, the low-powered TV-46, to Keith Stubblefield. However, WNBS went off the air the same year when Stubblefield failed to make payments for the station or its employees. Murray is a home rule-class city in Calloway County, Kentucky, United States. It is the seat of Calloway County and the 19th-largest city in Kentucky. The city's population was 17,741 during the 2010 U.S. census, and its micropolitan area's population is 37,191. Murray is a college town and is the home of Murray State University. Album-oriented rock (AOR, originally called album-oriented radio) is an FM radio format created in the United States in the 1970s that focuses on the full repertoire of rock albums and is currently associated with classic rock. Album-oriented radio was originally established by U.S. radio stations dedicated to playing album tracks by rock artists from the hard rock to progressive rock genres. The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. Murray State University (MSU) is a public university in Murray, Kentucky. In addition to the main campus in Calloway County in southwestern Kentucky, Murray State operates extended campuses offering upper level and graduate courses in Paducah, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and Henderson.
