Spin Boldak
Spin Boldak ( ps, سپین بولدک) is a border town and the headquarters of Spin Boldak District in the southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan, next to the border with Pakistan. It is linked by a highway with the city of Kandahar to the north, and with Chaman and Quetta in Pakistan to the south. Spin Boldak has the second major port of entry between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the Wesh-Chaman border crossing. It is also a major transporting, shipping and receiving site between the two neighboring countries. The district is populated mostly by Noorzai and Achakzai Pashtuns. Kandahar and Quetta are about 40 and respectively distant by air, and have the closest medium-sized airports; Pishin, Pakistan has a small airport to the east. Wesh–Chaman Border Crossing
The Wesh–Chaman border crossing is one of the major international border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Located on the Pak-Afghan border, it leads north from the town of Chaman, Chaman District, Balochistan into Wesh in Spin Boldak District, Kandahar province. More generally, it links the two provincial capitals: Quetta and Kandahar. At least 10 thousand peoples cross this border on the daily basis having businesses in Wesh and return home in the evening. On 14 July 2021, the border crossing was captured by Taliban forces as part of the 2021 Taliban offensive. A brick, double-arched Friendship Gate, rising three stories tall, was erected in 2003. Darrell Wesh
Darrell Wesh (born 21 January 1992) is a Haitian-American athlete competing in sprinting events. Earlier he represented the United States. He is the Haitian 100m record holder at 10.16 seconds. He graduated from Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2010 and Virginia Tech in 2015, earning a degree in property management. Marlena Wesh
Marlena Hilari Wesh (born February 16, 1991) is a Haitian-American sprinter who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics for Haiti in the women's 200-meter and 400-meter sprints. Biography She was born and raised in Virginia, but is eligible to compete for Haiti because both her parents were born and raised there. She has never been to Haiti though she is a citizen there also. Four of the five athletes representing Haiti at the 2012 Olympics are not from Haiti. Wesh says, "I still feel Haitian even if I wasn't born there". After graduating from Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2009, she enrolled at Oklahoma, where she was given a full scholarship, but later she transferred and she enrolled at Clemson University in South Carolina and should graduate in 2013.
