Waves (Kanye West Song)
"Waves" is a song by American rapper and producer Kanye West from his seventh studio album ''The Life of Pablo'' (2016). The song features vocals from American recording artists Chris Brown and Kid Cudi. Music critics positively received the song. West performed the track on multiple occasions during the Saint Pablo Tour. It charted in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Ireland and Canada in 2016. A music video was recorded for it in April 2016, but West chose to never release it. The song, although not released as a single, was commercially successful, being certified 2× Platinum and Silver in the United States and United Kingdom respectively. Background and development "Waves" was first conceived during the same week songs such as " All Day" (2015) and Travis Scott's "Piss on Your Grave" (2015) were recorded. It originally contained a sample of "Return to Innocence" (1994) by Enigma, until Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke took the sample out and added choir synths to th ...

Waves (Dean Lewis Song)
"Waves" is the debut single by Australian singer and songwriter Dean Lewis. Released in September 2016 as the lead single from his debut extended play '' Same Kind of Different'' (2017). In an interview with ''Stack Magazine'' in May 2017, Lewis explained: "A lot of people think it's about relationships, but it's more about how with every year hatpasses, life gets a little bit less exciting. I was in London a year ago and a few music things were happening, and I'm like 'Why am I not really enjoying my life? Like, this is cool!' Then I remembered when I was 15 and you'd go to a house party and you'd be so excited, or going to the movies with your friends. Where has that feeling gone?" An acoustic version was released on 3 February 2017. In March 2019 it was included on Lewis' first full-length album A Place We Knew. Remixes were released on 26 July 2019. The song appeared in episode four of series one of '' Riverdale'', episode 10 of series seven of '' Suits'', in episode 1 ...

Waves (Katrina And The Waves Album)
''Waves'' is the fourth studio album by new wave band Katrina and the Waves, released in 1986 by Capitol Records. It followed their US and UK Top 30 album ''Katrina and the Waves'' (1985), reaching No. 49 on ''Billboard'' 200 and No. 70 on the UK Albums Chart. ''Waves'' sold less than half of what its predecessor had, generating a modest hit with the single "Sun Street" (UK No. 22). Reception In a retrospective review for AllMusic, Matthew Greenwald wrote that although ''Waves'' is "not a disaster by any stretch," it's certainly not up to the standards of their previous album ''Katrina and the Waves''. Part of this, according to Greenwald, is because main songwriter Kimberley Rew only contributed two songs to the album. Greenwald felt that there are some fine moments, however, such as Vince de la Cruz's "Sun Street" and Katrina Leskanich's "Tears for Me." He added that Rew's two songs, "Is That It" and "Lovely Lindsay," are "mini-masterpieces", and that they "eventually pu ...

Waves (band)
Waves was a New Zealand folk rock band that recorded a top-selling self-titled album in 1975 before disbanding in 1977. Its lineup emerged from an acoustic trio, Rosewood, which originally included Geoff Chunn, who later joined Split Enz. Despite making only sporadic live appearances—one of which was a double billing shared with Split Enz—their singles gained major airplay on Auckland radio and the ''Waves'' album reached No.7 on the New Zealand album charts, later becoming a sought-after collector's item. In 1976 the band recorded a second album that was rejected by their record company, which later erased the tapes. Dejected, the band split up in September 1977. A surviving rough mix of the second album was released in 2013 as ''Misfit'', a bonus disc with the first official CD release of ''Waves''. A co-founder of the band, Graeme Gash, released a solo album, ''After the Carnival'', in 1981. Waves reformed in 2013 for a record store performance in Auckland and announce ...

The song premiered on Beats 1 and was released on November 15, 2018. The music video for "Waves" was released in February 2019 and won the 2019 MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video. Background Normani originally performed the song without 6lack at a Tidal X concert in Brooklyn on October 23, 2018. ''Billboard'' reported on the performance, calling it "slow-churning" and its hook "intoxicating". Covering the concert, ''Paper'' called the song an upcoming single in October. The singer announced the song on Twitter and shared its cover art on November 14. "Waves" premiered on Beats 1 and was released as a single on November 15. Waves (Blancmange Song)
"Waves" is a song by English synth-pop duo Blancmange, released on 21 January 1983 as the fourth and final single from their debut studio album ''Happy Families'' (1982). Written by Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe, and produced by Mike Howlett, "Waves" reached No. 19 in the UK and remained in the charts for nine weeks. In a 2016 interview with ''M Magazine'', Arthur recalled of writing the song: "I had a summer job where I had to sit in this caravan handing out concrete slabs to builders. Most of the day I did nothing. It was a glorious summer and I just sat and wrote "I've Seen the Word", "I Can't Explain", "Waves". They were so minimal but Stephen laid these lovely melodies over the top." Critical reception Upon release, ''Smash Hits'' wrote: "After the brilliant " Living on the Ceiling", this is rotten. Neil Arthur puts on his Martin Fry tuxedo, dives head-first into the sea of strings... and drowns." In a retrospective review of ''Happy Families'' (1982), John Bergstrom of ''P ...

Wave
In physics, mathematics, and related fields, a wave is a propagating dynamic disturbance (change from equilibrium) of one or more quantities. Waves can be periodic, in which case those quantities oscillate repeatedly about an equilibrium (resting) value at some frequency. When the entire waveform moves in one direction, it is said to be a ''traveling wave''; by contrast, a pair of superimposed periodic waves traveling in opposite directions makes a '' standing wave''. In a standing wave, the amplitude of vibration has nulls at some positions where the wave amplitude appears smaller or even zero. Waves are often described by a '' wave equation'' (standing wave field of two opposite waves) or a one-way wave equation for single wave propagation in a defined direction. Two types of waves are most commonly studied in classical physics. In a '' mechanical wave'', stress and strain fields oscillate about a mechanical equilibrium. A mechanical wave is a local deformation (str ...

Wind Wave
In fluid dynamics, a wind wave, water wave, or wind-generated water wave, is a surface wave that occurs on the free surface of bodies of water as a result from the wind blowing over the water surface. The contact distance in the direction of the wind is known as the '' fetch''. Waves in the oceans can travel thousands of kilometers before reaching land. Wind waves on Earth range in size from small ripples, to waves over high, being limited by wind speed, duration, fetch, and water depth. When directly generated and affected by local wind, a wind wave system is called a wind sea. Wind waves will travel in a great circle route after being generated – curving slightly left in the southern hemisphere and slightly right in the northern hemisphere. After moving out of the area of fetch, wind waves are called '' swells'' and can travel thousands of kilometers. A noteworthy example of this is waves generated south of Tasmania during heavy winds that will travel across the P ...
