Wüstewaltersdorf
Walim (german: Wüstewaltersdorf, until 1917 ''Wüste Waltersdorf'') is a village in Wałbrzych County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It is the seat of the administrative district (gmina) called Gmina Walim. It lies approximately south-east of Wałbrzych, and south-west of the regional capital Wrocław. The town is notable for 300-year-old timber framed houses. Geography Walim is situated in the north-west of the Owl Mountains, along the Voivodeship Road 383, which leads from Jugowice over the ''Przełęcz Walimska'' pass to Dzierżoniów. Neighboring towns are Kokrza to the north, Michałkowa, Glinno, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Glinno and Toszowice to the northeast, Modlęcin and Domachów to the east, Siedlików (Walim), Siedlików and Rzeczka to the southeast, Grządki and Głuszyca to the southwest, Jedlinka Górna to the west and Dolki and Sędzimierz to the northwest. Owl Mountains
The Owl Mountains ( pl, Góry Sowie, cs, Soví hory, german: Eulengebirge) are a mountain range of the Central Sudetes in southwestern Poland. It includes a protected area called Owl Mountains Landscape Park. Geography The Owl Mountains cover an area of about and stretch over between the historic Lower Silesian region and Kłodzko Land. Apart from the main ridge, the subdivisions of ''Garb Dzikowca'' and ''Wzgórza Wyrębińskie'' can be distinguished. The range is bounded by the valley of the Bystrzyca river in the northwest, forming a natural border with the adjacent Waldenburg Mountains (''Góry Wałbrzyskie''). Dzierżoniów
Dzierżoniów (; szl, Rychbach; german: Reichenbach im Eulengebirge ) is a town located at the foot of the Owl Mountains in southwestern Poland, within the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (from 1975 to 1998 in the former Wałbrzych Voivodeship). It is the seat of Dzierżoniów County, and of Gmina Dzierżoniów (although it is not part of the territory of the latter, since the town forms a separate urban gmina). Established in the 13th century, Dzierżoniów is a historical Lower Silesian town that covers an area of , and as of December 2021 it has a population of 32,346. It is named after Polish priest and scientist Jan Dzierżon. Wielka Sowa
Wielka Sowa ("Great Owl", german: Hohe Eule) with a height of is the highest peak of the Owl Mountains, a range of the Central Sudetes. The mountain is located in Dzierżoniów County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. Geography The peak made up of metamorphic rocks of the Precambrian rises above the village of Walim, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Walim near Dzierżoniów in the north and the Nysa Kłodzka Valley in the west. It is surrounded by the Owl Mountains Landscape Park. Its slopes are a popular skiing area in winter. In 1906 a Bismarck tower was erected at the summit at the behest of the German Empire, German authorities. The granite and reinforced concrete construction replaced an older wooden viewing tower located about to the south. Renamed several times after World War II, it recently has been restored in the course of the EU Interreg incentive program and re-opened in 2008.
