Württemberg B And B2
The Württemberg Class B and Class B2 engines were steam locomotives with the Royal Württemberg State Railways (''Königlich Württembergische Staats-Eisenbahnen'') first built in 1868 by the Maschinenfabrik Esslingen ('Esslingen engineering works') in Esslingen in the former Kingdom of Württemberg in southern Germany. The engines had a Crampton boiler, an inside Allan valve gear and, for the first time in Württemberg, a ''Prüsmann'' chimney. They were equipped with 2 T 6.5 tenders. Maschinenfabrik Esslingen
Maschinenfabrik Esslingen (ME), was a German engineering firm that manufactured locomotives, tramways, railway wagons, roll-blocks, technical equipment for the railways, (turntables and traversers), bridges, steel structures, pumps and boilers. Founding It was founded by Emil Kessler on 11 March 1846 in Stuttgart, as a result of an initiative of the Kingdom of Württemberg to create a railway industry that was not dependent on foreign manufacturers. Emil Kessler brought vital experience from his time with the engineering works in Karlsruhe, where he had been a member of the board since 1837 and the sole director since 1842. The foundation stone of the new factory was laid at Esslingen am Neckar on 4 May 1846. The railway vehicle classes covered by this list of DRG locomotives and railbuses belonged to the ''Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft'' or DRG (1924–37) and its successor, the ''Deutsche Reichsbahn'' or DRB (post 1937). The DRG (lit. German Imperial Railway Company) was formed under the terms of the Dawes Plan from the ''Deutsche Reichseisenbahnen'' (lit. Imperial Railways), a merger of the various German state railways after the First World War. Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks.
