Wynwood is a neighborhood in Miami, Florida. Wynwood is known for being an entertainment district, with artwork, restaurants, breweries, clothing stores, dance venues, among other retail options. Formerly an industrial district, the area is now known for the murals that cover the walls of many of the buildings and much of the sidewalks. It is north of Downtown Miami and Overtown, and adjacent to Edgewater. It begins at a partial interchange with U.S. Highway 1 (US 1) just south of downtown Miami, and heads north past Daytona Beach, through Jacksonville, and to the Georgia state line at the St. Marys River near Becker. Okuda San Miguel, (born Óscar San Miguel Erice; Santander, 19 November 1980) is a Spanish painter and sculptor known for his distinctive style of colorful geometric patterns that portray animals, skulls, religious iconography and human figures. Tony Goldman (December 6, 1943 – September 11, 2012) was an American real estate developer and arts visionary. Early life and education Goldman was born to a single mother in Wilmington, Delaware (Goldman's biological father was overseas in the military during World War II). He was adopted at birth by Tillie and Charles Goldman, who named him Richard Anthony Goldman and raised him on the Upper East Side of New York City in the Jewish faith. He has two step-siblings, a brother and a sister. In 1965, he graduated with a B.A. in drama from Emerson College, located in Boston, Massachusetts. Midtown Miami
Midtown Miami is the collective term for the Wynwood and Edgewater neighborhoods of Miami, Florida. It is located north of Downtown and south of the Miami Design District and is roughly bound by North 20th Street to the south, I-195 to the north, I-95 to the west, and Biscayne Bay to the east. In 2005, construction began on the "Midtown Miami" development between North 29th and 36th Street and Miami Avenue and the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) on what was historically an FEC rail yard. Florida East Coast Railway
The Florida East Coast Railway is a Class II railroad operating in the U.S. state of Florida, currently owned by Grupo México. Built primarily in the last quarter of the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century, the FEC was a project of Standard Oil principal Henry Flagler. Interstate 195 (Florida)
Interstate 195 (I-195) is a spur freeway connecting I-95 (its parent route) in the west with Miami Beach in the east. It crosses Biscayne Bay by traveling over the Julia Tuttle Causeway. The causeway is named after Miami founder Julia Tuttle. It is part of the longer State Road 112 (SR 112), which continues to the west as the Airport Expressway and to the east as Arthur Godfrey Road (41st Street). As part of a pilot program, the Florida Department of Transportation painted the shoulders as bike lanes east of US 1. Pedestrians are still prohibited.
