The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. Manly West is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Manly West had a population of 11,978 people. The Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division), branded as Liberal Queensland, was the Queensland division of the Liberal Party of Australia until 2008. The Protestant Labour Party, alternatively spelt Protestant Labor, was a minor Australian political party that operated mainly in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia in the 1920s and 1930s. It was formed by Walter Skelton in July 1923 as the Protestant Independent Labour Party. who had stood for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly district of Newcastle at the 1922 election, campaigning as a Protestant Independent Labour candidate, in which he was elected first of five members, receiving 25.19% of the vote. The United Australia Party was the short-lived Queensland branch of the national United Australia Party in the 1930s and 1940s. Based around Brisbane, it spent the entire of its history in opposition, merging in 1941 into the Country-National Organisation. When that party separated in 1944, the remnants of the UAP joined the Queensland People's Party which in 1949 became the Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division) History Although the federal UAP was formed in 1931 amidst a reorganisation of the right of politics, at the state level the main conservative party remained the Country and Progressive National Party which combined urban and rural forces. John William Greene
John William Greene (3 September 1876, in Cardiff, Wales – 7 October 1959, in Brisbane, Australia) was the Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1931 to 1934. He was the last Mayor of Wynnum before the 1925 amalgamation, and was the only one who was popularly elected. His brother Sam, was the first Mayor of Wynnum in 1913. Life Green was born in Cardiff. His Methodist parents were Ellen Webber (born Greenham) and her husband John Ily Green who had lived in Bridport in Dorset. He was one of their eleven children. His father designed and built Moreton Bay College where five of his sisters taught. Wynnum Town Council Prior to the formation of Brisbane City Council in 1925, the Brisbane area was split amongst many Cities, Towns and Shires, including the Town of Wynnum. The National Party, later the United Party was a political party in the Australian state of Queensland from 1917 until 1925. Although allied with the federal Nationalist Party, it had different origins in state politics. It sought to combine the state's Liberal Party with the Country Party but the latter soon withdrew. William Logan Dart (25 August 1877 – 17 January 1969) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Dart was born at Brisbane, Queensland, the son of the John Dart and his wife Maria Jane (née Logan). He was educated at Brisbane Central State School and in 1893 moved to Forest Hill where, along with his brother, he took up a selection.
